PC I think balance for crafting is needed for this

Forged Steel. Because I can get recipes unlocked that need Forged Steel well before I could get 75 in Workstations for making a Crucible.

I just sold stacks of iron and plastic easily with a ranger hat on to buy one. Sure I could make them later for other forges. It's just progression in crafting games usually you unlock a main crafting ingredient when you start getting recipes requiring it.

Always love the game. I got over 400 hrs in this new update. My favorite zombie game next to Dying Light

I already see the 75 or high price of the crucible is what keeps the balance. It allows for the crafting of bulk forged steel which you need for steel blocks and the strongest weapons both what I would consider late/end game items. Those early steel recipes can easily be crafted from steel you can harvest in the world.

In my opinion this is unnecessary even with a few treasure map missions I could then just buy the crucible from the trader when it's available. There's no need to adjust anything this is a sandbox game what the game needs is new assets not the idea that this game is finished & there's nothing left to do so lets just focus on the opinions of what is supposedly fair & what is too easy. Take a look & let ideas float to you of what could be added to the game to make it even a more better realistic sandbox survival.

Used to in the first console version of the game, i could start a new map and within 30 minutes have all the materials for building a forge, but now its almost impossible to get a forge built before the first bloodmoon it seems like

From the first 4 points you got invest 1 into lockpicking and 1 into the the workstation perk, loot some newspaper stands and mail boxes or do quests and select the magazine bundles and you should have the recipe for forge on day 2. Leather you can find in a diner for example, or from animals if you are lucky. Anything else you consider a problem?

Nerd outfit asap, once i can i make one, at least have on me when looting just to get that chance of increased points per book.

Once past primitive I do

Rogue hood

Nerd outfit

Preacher gloves

Boots I like combat but does not mater as much

See I had a different experience in the old console version. I’d always spend the first few days running around trying to find a POI with a working forge because it always seemed to take a while to be able to craft my own. Don’t recall how long it took me to get the forge in this version. It’s day 306 so those first weeks are a bit hazy.

@thatguybeard as soon as i spawned in, i would gather enough materials to craft and axe and shovel, farm my rocks and clay(at the cotton patches) then hit up a couple houses and trash piles and so on for the pipe and leather and craft my forge, then i could craft my anvil and farm the rest of the items for my forge from working stiff.

Focus on trader quests. Odds are you will be able to buy/find a wrench which you can use to bust apart cars for cloth and pipes. You can realistically have a forge by day 5 with regular settings.

Why a wrench? You can get cloth with a stone axe from almost everywhere, and pipes from sinks.

A wrench is always a good thing to use, but if you wait for a wrench so that you can make a forge you often wait longer than necessary
Just speaking from experience, I usually find a wrench during a clear quest or as a reward from said quest. Sure it's a 1 tier and maybe it only has half health but it is very likely that I get one. Additionally, if you aren't finding a wrench, punch all the cotton you see. It's a 1 to 1 ratio for cotton to cloth.
