PC I have to ask about working cement mixers found at trader (w/forge also)

Ok, so the trader by my house has a working forge and cement mixer. By making an anvil in the forge, and filling it up with stone, clay, and iron, I can make an anvil, rebar, sand, cement, and concrete mix. Is this working as intended? I'm only a level 10.

I mean, I have the ability to make reinforced concrete blocks now (I found a level 2 nailgun in a box on video to do the upgrading). Is this a glitch? Because if it is, I could start grinding crafted mats now to build the base.

Getting crafted reinforced concrete blocks placed at this level, uh...? I mean, I'll take it. But is it intended? Or am I just very very lucky?

And yes, this is a fresh world since b208 dropped.

you have been blessed by RNGesus my child, accept your gracious offerings lol

Lucked out in my game. The one trader had working forge, cement, workbench, chem station, campfire. First time I've seen ALL the stations there working.

We had that happen on a public server and that ended all discussion about where we wanted our base. RNGesus be praised!

So yeah OP, it happens. Sometimes RNGesus is not pleased with you and you get a trader with everything broken, and any forge houses nearby are broken. You just need to get right with RNGesus and roll with it.

I don't know if it still happens, but A16 I've also opened crates in houses and had a working cement mixer pop out. House I was just going to spend the 1st night in, and not near where I wanted my base, but I had to rethink things. Construction sites in A17 have mixers, sometimes working.

I think it is intended since it has come up in multiple threads. Some people think it's stupid that you'll get things that you can't craft because they are level gated, or that you can use some things that are level gated but not others (personally I think it's dumb we can't make steel arrows if we find heads, or make bullets when we have materials and find a workbench...the rest I'm mostly fine with).

Being able to use the forge to make forged iron for repairing found tools and a cooking pot if your luck is really bad from the get go is great, but it's not enough for some people(and then there are some who think it is too generous). Same for being able to make cement if you're lucky enough to find a mixer.

Workbench and chemistry station are pretty much useless without the perks (not really sure you can make anything in them w/o) but of course it does save you from having to make your own.

Traders aren't the only POIs that can have working stations BTW. The different stations are scattered about various POIs (even 1 car garages) and I think any of them have a chance to be working, although some of them seem quite low.

You can still move your crafting queue to a workbench for regular ungated stuff (I like to use them for cobblestone production and such while out and about looting) and keep your backpack free.

I tend to focus mainly on stamina recovery and archery, while getting other necessary things like cooking up to lev 2 and whatnot.

You can make cement early in the forge, then craft to mix in the mixer. Many POI can be directly upgraded to reinforced concrete for the base walls. Handy.

yes, offloading cobblestone crafting to the workbench is nice, and you can let the forge run all day, zombies won't get to it.

This one is the trader that has nothing to loot west out of Diersville. He's got barbed wire around the place, and the zombies are purely stupid about that. If they bang on the doors (and they will) lead them around the corners if outside, they hug the wall AND the wire. Easy pickins. If you're inside, pop up onto the wall, let them come to you, again they hug the wall and the wire.

The wire is protected, so they cannot break it. They are dead slow (pun intended). Even bears are easy meat on that. :)
