I haven't tested it in 2.0, but if yellow barrels still drop acid, it shouldn't be that hard to get. There are a lot of yellow barrels lying around in the wasteland now.

Acid feels more rare if you don´t have that book. Once you have it, it´s easy no matter which biome. Just 2 playtroughs in, but in both we had to wait with the chemstation because we only had 3 when unlocking it.

I'm on day 22 and still don't have the book. Overall, the drop rate seems okay in my current playthrough. I used five acid to craft my chemistry station, and I currently have six acid. I will probably use five of them to make smoothies for the Wasteland.

I may just have a bad map. Most of the towns so far have hardly any industrial. I'm only getting to snow atm though because we keep having to restart.

After three or four more ambulances this morning, I didn't get any so I must have got very very lucky. Too bad I wasn't in Vegas.
I got one from a truck and I do think they're a little more common from the trucks than the cars. So now I have six acid and can make the chemistry station when I get it. By the time I'm ready for the wasteland I'll have two or three more which is all I'm going to need hunt pukers.
