I hate killing Bambi but I don't mind killing Porky

If I'm starving and need the meat then Bambi is on the menu. Otherwise I leave him alone and hunt for Porky.

Also, what's with these rabbits and chickens running right in front of me when I'm on my bicycle? I'm not trying to hit them. I don't want to because after the first day I generally don't need any meat but I'm not going to leave them there for the Z's to eat. Slows me down when must stop to butcher.

The only time I have hunted deer is for the kill so many of these animals challenges. I did it once just to have done it. Other than that, the only time I kill deer is when they run in front of my motorcycle and can't avoid them. Piggies I'll only attack the aggressive ones in POIs. Or when my turret pops them. I can understand why they do that in a POI, but they also target the friendly wilderness piggies. In general, if it's not aggressive, I leave it alone. Except chickens. They're dinner.

Usually after I farm a stack or two of meats, I stop hunting all together. I'll kill anything that moves don't care if it's bambi, porky or bugs. They're getting shot, skinned, and put in my skillet lol.

Much like NiteViper I will kill anything that gives meat. Usually when I have 4 - 5 stacks of meat I will stop hunting until I need more.
In the late game bears are my favorite because they are very plentiful in the snow biome.

When you butcher the carcass does it matter if you use the normal attack vs the power attack to get animal fat, bones and meat? Does 1 give you more?

Nope, only the tool type. Knives giving most out of animals (and I think knuckles and batons are in the same category for .. reasons).

I think it's only the steel knuckles? But I didn't know that about batons (though it does ring a bell...maybe I knew at one time and forgot?)

I've never seen this many deer in my life did they buff spawns at night?

A steel knuckle duster gives the same as a knife (that's why I don't carry a knife with me). An axe gives 75% of the cutting. Neither clubs nor other knuckle dusters can cut up a carcass.
