I finally did a full stealth run and I gotta say...I think they're right

Speed is the largest disadvantage. In a game revolving around every 7 days a horde will happen time is a resource. If you are going slower to clear POIs and loot then it's a disadvantage and IMO the largest one though I readily admit trigger zones is a strong contender for the top spot, though I will also agree that the armor increased it's viability I also must say I strongly disagree with the way armor was done in the game.
You're partly right, but to be honest there's a misconception, in my opinion, where if you play stealth, you always have to play stealth.
That's not how I play. I only use stealth where I can get a clear advantage.

One trick to speed up things is to run a greater number of "previous tier" POIs instead of the bigger ones.
You can easily speed-run Tier 2/3 POIs with a good knife or machete and a pistol if you're well spec-ed into them.
You can alternate between stealth gameplay and assassin's "havoc knife-storm brute force" non-stealth gameplay.

So, in that respect, auto triggers are on the top of the list in my opinion.

I'll play devil's advocate here. I remember a time when I could literally stealth to the square next to a zed and stab him without ever being detected. Granted, it was FUN for a while, but then it got boring. We need some detection or we'll be bored stealthing around one-shotting everything. I do agree that the triggered encounters kind of suck when playing stealth. You get to the end and suddenly the last group knows you're there for some magical reason. All good though.
They can leave the triggers...maybe modify them so they're not triggered while you're in the middle of them.

If you trigger them and they don't detect you then they'll be moving which will add legitimate mechanical skill expression to the gameplay because if you miss your shot then you're in trouble. That keeps it from getting boring because now you're not just shooting stationary zombies.

But as a side note, the whole concept of triggered zombies comes across like a consciously designed trap. Maybe they can work that into the game lore. The Duke and Noah set zombie traps in the POIs.

Help me to understand this. If I play slowly, I level more slowly and the game stage grows more slowly, right? Or do I have this wrong? Or, are you drawing a distinction between multiplayer and single player?
