Yeah, i rather use the Trader Sonia mod. Way easier.
if that were the problem then i would agree but that isnt it. rekt is an aping of a specific kind of person a fair few of us have known in real life and it is tiring to have him be a complete antagonizing ■■■■■■■ all day every day, sure rekt i get it, we did something one of your buddies didnt like but do you really have to tell me all day every day that i owe you gratitude for your existence?? tired. i am just tired.Mine too. I think the crude humor is the defining feature of him. I get that some may not like it, but I personally find it amusing. I never thought I would see a day where people got upset at swear words in a video game.
I don't know that I'd say it's easier unless someone is afraid to edit the file. Finding a mod, figuring out how to install it (it isn't hard, but a lot of people struggle to place it in the right place), keeping it updated with each game update that breaks it... versus opening the file, using Find and replacing X number of instances of the word rekt (X being the number of Rekt traders on the map) and then have it work in every future version of the game as long as the map is valid for that new version, which usually means all minor version updates and can even mean major version updates as long as the POI aren't changed. Plus, if playing multiplayer, each person would have to get the mod, whereas the prefabs.xml change doesn't require anyone else to do anything.Yeah, i rather use the Trader Sonia mod. Way easier.
For sure! Just feel cheated that she doesn't look like the picture on the mod page. So angelic looking. I guess too many polys. Of course it also means I'll be doubly tired of Jen's voice when I get to burning.Yeah, i rather use the Trader Sonia mod. Way easier.
In all fairness, I am that guy. I'm known for being a grumpy old ■■■■ at work and verbally abusing people. I am also known for being the guy that you come to when you've got a problem and I teach you how to fix it.if that were the problem then i would agree but that isnt it. rekt is an aping of a specific kind of person a fair few of us have known in real life and it is tiring to have him be a complete antagonizingall day every day, sure rekt i get it, we did something one of your buddies didnt like but do you really have to tell me all day every day that i owe you gratitude for your existence?? tired. i am just tired.
Trader Hugh is the only trader who sometimes annoys me. He gets extremely loud sometimes. If someone is playing with headphones on, it can be very unpleasant.Rekt is my favourite trader even if some of his lines are rather crude humor. The other traders have mostly boring lines, with a few exceptions.
I feel like this is a general problem with all games. It's like none of the devs have speakers or headphones. Certainly not decent ones. I've also had to drop my bass way down because most of the sounds these days have way too much.Trader Hugh is the only trader who sometimes annoys me. He gets extremely loud sometimes. Perhaps the traders could get new dialogue lines that differentiate between starting fresh with them versus after doing 20 quests with them? Like attitude changes. It would make sense for someone to be apathetic to another new traveler who will likely get themselves killed versus someone who you have interacted with over the course of several days.if that were the problem then i would agree but that isnt it. rekt is an aping of a specific kind of person a fair few of us have known in real life and it is tiring to have him be a complete antagonizingall day every day, sure rekt i get it, we did something one of your buddies didnt like but do you really have to tell me all day every day that i owe you gratitude for your existence?? tired. i am just tired.
I think for most people it has nothing to do with swearing. For that matter, you can turn that off if you really wanted to. He's just an annoying person to listen to if you are paying attention to him. And since they force you to start with him (if using RWG maps or pregen maps or Navesgane), avoiding him entirely isn't an option for a lot of people who aren't able to handle going to the next biome to start the game and still want to do quests while having biome hazards enabled. If he was in any other biome, it wouldn't be so bad. You could do the Open Trade Routes quest to him one time and then avoid him for the rest of the game. With him in the forest, if you want to do quests and you don't want to try and unlock the burnt forest immediately (or aren't able to because you're new to the game), you can't avoid him.
Now, for those who don't want him in your game, you can still play the game without him. Even with an RWG map, it's easy to do. After generating your map and before you start a new game on it, open your map folder and edit prefabs.xml. Replace all instances of trader_rekt with whichever trader(s) you want (use Find in Notepad/Notepad++). So, if you want Jen, change trader_rekt to trader_jen. Jen is probably the best option if you want to do the Open Trade Route quests. Make no other changes and then start your game. You will not have Rekt in the game and can play the game normally. There is only one issue you'll have... you can't take the first Open Trade Route quest (Rekt to Jen). After you've completed tier 2, you should get the one from Jen to Bob if you're at Jen. Note that this seems to be a bit buggy at times and I've had it skip Jen, making it start at the Bob to Hugh one after tier 3 instead, so it may not be perfect. But other than that Open Trade Route set of quests, everything else works normally even if you remove Rekt from your game.
that would be really neat, though, i dont think it would be reasonable to ask or expect from the dev team. they dont seem to be focusing on the narative parts of the game atm and it would be a lot to ask them to redirect their interests to itPerhaps the traders could get new dialogue lines that differentiate between starting fresh with them versus after doing 20 quests with them? man, me and my friend were so confused by that doink the first two times we heard it x''D it is caused by going over a cactus but like, only some of the time?Oh yeah some of those ounds are really weird. Still couldn´t figure out what exactly those are. One sounds like when you finally find the pot when playing "Topfschlagen" aka hitting a cooking pot with a wooden cooking spoon. Another one sounds like a cartoon sound kinda like "doink". Absolute silly sounds both when fighting. Next thing we know the Z´s get a coyote standing in the air before falling down animation.

So does everyone else. Some think the character just a cantankerous old man. Others recognize the character is abusive and wonder why they have to be subjected to that when they're trying to relax. Either way, most I've seen have a more or lessI understand that he's a non-player character (NPC) who just recites his lines.
Rekt existed when traders were randomized, so that's probably not the reason for his existence. Of all the traders, though, he and Jen at least sound natural. Kudos to the actors and whomever directed them.I suspect the main reason Rekt exists is to "encourage" players to leave the Forest biome just to get away from him. I hate that guy.
And even when not using headphones. What bugs me, though, is that he's overacted with the constant hissing through the teeth sound he makes, further sounding like he's going hyperventilate any second. The character might come across a little menacing if not for that. Were he more understated, you'd get the impression you're dealing with a madman as opposed to a laughing stock.Trader Hugh is the only trader who sometimes annoys me. From what I understand, trader "reputation" will be a thing. I haven't heard all the dialogue lines, but imagine they'll vary in tone if not attitude at some point. Could be wrong.Perhaps the traders could get new dialogue... Like attitude changes
I suspect they don't have a sound designer and/or are, once again, following those industry trends toward throrough gamification and arcadeiness. Then there are the annoying dings and beeps that everyone's UI makes. Oh and the sound every time you accomplish something or level up.
Atrocious ... and most ofthe time they can't be decoupled from the sounds you do need to hear.
