Hunger/Thirst system soft locks characters now?

the very first thing I do is start scrapping tires on the road. It's easy to get a dew collector going day 1 if you just destroy every tire you see. Save all your decent loot to buy a cooking pot (600 dukes) if you don't find one, but you can usually find a cooking pot after looting 3-4 residential POI. Toilets often have dirty water. After day 1, your dew collector will keep you hydrated.

Once that is solved, the survival mechanics are a distant memory.

I appreciate your guys help, but none of those things are the issue. I've got 3,000 hours in this game and have died less than 10 times in total during that time, none of them due to hunger or thirst. Believe it or not, I've figured out that I need to look in kitchens for food and cooking pots by now. I apologize for the snark, this is just a frustrating experience.

I guess I could see this if you've not played in a number of years and was just now encountering the water change from A21. If that's the case then welcome back. :)
