Sorry to ignite this old'ish post, i just wondered if anyone knows how to expand the trader protection area please? obviously its editing the XML but im not sure where or which text? thanks.

It ends up in the POI XML but it's edited in the POI editor. My advice is to open up the trader POI and adjust the trader area yourself.
I'm pretty sure the game reads the trader area boundary from the POI XML, and if that's true, you should be able to distribute the POI XML files without any of the other POI files. They won't be pushed from server to client so if you're running a MP game, all clients will still be required to install those XML files (e.g. through a mod).
