PC How is it that the global pandemic that decimated humanity made buzzards thrive?

People just aren't in Arizona anymore.  They are sending supplies (air drops) for the few left there from wherever people are living.  Vultures wouldn't have a reason to leave when there is still plenty to eat.

Vultures are immune to most pathogens and diseases because they primarily feed on rotting corpses. I'd put them up there with cockroaches in the surviving the apocalypse hierarchy.
