PC Hopes and Worries about the Telltale Closure and Future of Console Edition

There was a video uploaded to YouTube I'm assuming it was the live stream from twitch, and they made 1 and only one comment about the console version of the game at about the 30 minute mark, and all they said was "be patient or buy the pc version" which sure it's something but it feels very dismissive like they were saying "Don't ask that we're talking about the pc version" I love their game but their PR needs some work.

That isn't all they said. They said they can not talk about the console version at this time because they are still got legal issues that still need working out. Then they said either be patient or buy the PC version. They didn't just come out and only say buy the PC version.

I didn't say the just said to buy the pc version, I acknowledged the part about be patient but to follow that up with "or just buy the pc version" makes the "be patient" feel more like they're saying shut up than we'll update you soon or at some point. It did in fact feel dismissive of the question as a whole simply because they defaulted to "buy the pc version" i love this game its on right now in front of me and I don't want to see it die nor drift away into obscurity on consoles.

The way you put it and the way I heard it is 2 different ways but just my opinion. They simply can't talk about it due to legal issues. Because of that they are trying to avoid talking about it. So they simply said keep being patient (because they just said they can't talk about it) or buy the PC version (so if you can't accept being patient nor accept that they can't talk about it then only 2 options and they didn't say the 2nd one they only said buy the PC version). Now the only other option left if none of those work is move on and stop playing. But like I said they didn't say that part but it is the only option left if the others are no ok. Also they way they said it wasn't rude or disrespectful they even said sorry.

I'm sure they want to get this over with as much as you and anyone else. So they can get asked new questions and not the same questions they simply can't answer at the moment and I'm sure because of that it is very frustrating. Anyway I just got a different message from then you did and the way you wording it just makes it sound like they sayin screw console and they are not. But again just my opinion.

I didn't take it as rude or disrespectful more exhausted. I'm sure they're tired of hearing these questions but if they would so much as glance at what the console players are actually saying we really just want to hear from them every now and then, I reject the idea of legal issues telltale has no money so they can't exactly hire a lawyer, and if there are issues with a potential new publisher don't name them just tell us you found a perspective publisher, or tell us if they did or didn't get the rights. None of that could cause a legal issue. I stand by my original statement of it seeming dismissive however I understand they don't want to talk about it but they really need to. PC players aren't all elitist they aren't going to laugh at the console players who have an unusable game because of this and a lack of communication has become a big deal in the gaming world as of late due to the epic store fiasco gamers are first and foremost pro-consumer not pro-company we like honesty and clarity. I'm not saying this as a console fanboy either I'm switching to pc as of the next gen here in a few months, and I'll buy the game on steam but that means I'm leaving alot of people who don't have that option with a busted game and id like to see a resolution before that.

Just for clarification, the console version of 7DtD is neither unusable nor busted. I play it regularly.

I play regularly on the xbox1x and the game runs great.
And this says a lot. Most of the people on here complaining about a "busted game" are xbox users. We ps4 users dont have near the same problems.

Glad it works good for you tired gamer!

I would be frustrated too if the game didn't run up to my expectations.

wonder if sony and xbox have some sort of analytics for how many people actually played the game in the last month ?

i wonder if theres any analytics for this forum ? the console forum not the pc side of it. i think it would be interesting to see the numbes.

Hello.

You cannot have any analytics as :

- People on this forum are not representative of 7DTD players.

--> most console players don't lurk forums

- In order to analyze 7DTD Xbox and PS4 players numbers you need to have the info from Xbox Live and PSN.

--> Neither Microsoft nor Sony will give this info.

What do you call a game that regularly deletes bases? A game that got the bare minimum of patches and updates to the point the most basic trap (wood spikes) cost 100 wood to make, where breaking a sink on the top floor of a tower causes the building to collapse. Sure not everyone experiences things the same and bugs aren't as common as they were but lets not pretend thia game is running even half as well as it should. I mean heck, the game felt more balanced with no updates than it does now. The game runs great is what we say till it deletes the chest with all your loot in it.

Hello.

If it can help I found a way to play the game without most crashes.

--> On my PS4, I play (legit, no cheats or glitchs used) on pure solo game, and I experienced no crashes on several 170+ hours games.

I strongly suspect most of crashes (on PS4) are due to the game network layer.

Perhaps not the best way to play this game, but the most sure one.

Sorry. My point was: If you were a PC player (just hypothetically) and did follow the PC side closely while also playing the game and therefore very interested in news and details about the new version, you probably would have been unhappy about the communication at the time of A17 development. Because a lot of people were actually unhappy and commented about it.
Understood. My bad. I have mentioned many times I own the PC version and the PS4 version. So I understand what you are saying and I am glad we have the same understanding now.

I was wondering about A17 taking a longer then I expected, but going from 16 to 17 I assumed might take more time if things don’t work out they way they planned. I wasn’t unhappy with their communication for reference. Of course I have always believed TFP are PC and this game really pushes the current hardware of the console. The twitch video posted is now even talking about A19. Sorry PC side. I feel I understand the future on that side, and plain communication. I with other posters on the legal stuff, but that is a no win discussion.

Both Ps4 and Xbox? Also, do you play multiplayer? Just for clarification.

I would agree it is usable, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t broke. Busted would mean unusable, so broke is more appropriate.

My Ps4 version and my friends ps4 versions of the game is in fact broken. I play multiplayer with them and the game kicks us all and then crashes. This has happened multiple times and really messed everything up for our world. I've spawned back in floating in the air recently with no items but the starting food, drink, torch, base block and no ally requests. The host has been told they were kicked even though the other players continued to play... "You have been disconnected from the host" something along those lines and then back to the main screen of the game. So we all have to exit the world and then the host friend re-invites us all. So to me, the game is broken and unplayable. Not sure what happens to other players but our game is messed up. We've tried being different hosts (on different worlds of course) and still it's the same thing happening to us all. Really ruins the game for us...

I'm not going to call it anything because I won't generalise the state of the game for the whole community based only on my experience.

I'm an Xbox 1s owner and have had a partial reset of a base occur once only. I primarily play single or local co-op so can;t speak to multiplayer but, as Freestyle604 said, to say the game is unusable is simply incorrect. I never said it didn;t have flaws but I refute your statement that is is "busted" or "unusable".

👍👍👍

I know everyone has different issues. Some seem to be worse then the next person. So can't say one way or the other. Based on reports few people on the ps4 have any major issues and seems more reports come from the xbox players as far as resets and stuff. I don't play the xbox version but my experience on the ps4 and playing with several friends here and there we all only have had goin to blue screen from time to time. The first year we had some other issues like we discovered most of the map but one day it was a blank map again but nothing was gone or anything. Anyway seems it is a luck of the straw type thing some have issues some don't. Some have major issues some have tiny issues. It is a mixed all over the place even coming from 2 people on the same system. So I can't say for someone else but I personally know 15 or so people and myself say it isn't busted or unusable on our end.👌
