PC Hey Mooooom.... the Meatloaf..... we want it now!

I never described a system where staff fear committing the contempt of the project manager. Wait a minute....you think everyone who bought early access is....staff?

Sorry no. Ask Gazz about it. He actually made the leap from “not staff” to “staff” so he can explain it to you clearly.

Psssst...you’re “not staff”
Wait. So i SHOULDN'T be cashing these paychecks?

Flies to Switzerland

I kid, I kid :bi_polo:

No not you. This armchair jam guy :)
Cheers
But he FIXED it all. Didn't you hear it?

Oh, Roland can you roast me? :x

Can you quote each person in this thread, and give them a witty roast. I just like reading your posts. ;b

You are twisting my words here and due to you not being a witness to actual team dynamics you actually have no idea what is happening behind the scenes. Even your example is ridiculous. Are the people on your 4-5 teams not vetted at all or are you staffing them with random people from an internet message board? If so do those random people have access to all the information?
There is great synergy and sharing between the actual employees of TFP. People giving bug reports and posting xml edits are not included.

I'm prepared to be wow'd beyond my expectations then, this week.

Madmole? No, you called us armchair devs. Myself and two of my admins at the time. Not worried about it but it was a fitting moment to recite and you confirmed your feelings of it.
huh...I assumed Madmole because you replied to my quote as though talking directly to me but used the pronoun "he" instead of "you" as though you were talking about someone else...

I can't remember the context of the conversation so I'll just apologize for being dismissive if I was. I've had people pm me code changes and I thanked them. Then when I offered them up to the devs they told me, "no thank you". I'm usually polite unless I sense someone is being impolite or trying to stir things up or are being belligerent because the devs won't acknowledge their contribution but I'm not perfect and so again, apologies.

We deobfuscated your asset code and showed where the issue was. We stopped though, no worries. We're not in the loop like you said and so moved on. Some of us are programmers from the various server management mods.
Thanks for your efforts. TFP is extremely protective of their work and perhaps it is a flaw of their company. They have been approached numerous times by fans willing to do the translations for free into various languages but they always decline such outside offers of help. I guess people can like or dislike that attitude and when those people who dislike it start their own business they can run it differently.

Why protect code? This isn't an MMO with micro-transactions or anything..

You should start a thread where people can post their game fixes, so the devs open their eyes on what they missed, or can't figure out. Take the fix, or implement their own based on it.. at least the problem's identified in a more critical manner, rather than rely on bug reports vaguely describing a problem.. :f

That's fine. Anyone is welcome to open such a thread and I'll even include a link to it in the important threads sticky. I agree that it can't hurt to have those things posted unless someone starts getting upset that all their hard work has gone unappreciated. Who knows, maybe Hated will check it out and mine anything that looks promising and assign it out.

Posting such things to the dev diary or the official bug report threads is not desirable but a dedicated thread here or in the mod forum would be great.

*Gangsign* Then it's a plan. I hope to see it happen. :3

Actual code solutions I think are much better than "what's happening, how it should work" reports. ;d

Hope the stamina changes are reverted to A17 zero, zombie loot changes to not happen etc etc. I'll also ask again (I even made a thread in questions for gawd's sakez), what happened to the initial death penalty? > :o

What's wrong with the stamina changes?

I was managing okay in 17, but, it was a real chore at the beginning especially with the stone tools. I actually just abandoned mining all together until I got the points into SexRex and Agility to become viable.

Initial death penalty? As in, losing wellness? Well, Wellness doesn't exist anymore.. it's now a static value changed by points invested. So now it's a temporary penalty.

Well, if you had to put points into agility, the situation was tragic indeed! Thankfully, the need for agility is no more.

No, I mean the A17 initial death penalty. That reduced your attributes up to half of what you had.

I still think it'll be needed to invest the points, I mean I was still running out at level 110

wat? That changed too? Interesting..

Eh, I do find Stamina overabundant now, never notice it unless I spam power attacks. Anyway, never mind that.

Yeah, the penalty did stack at first, up to a max of 1/2 of your attributes, was 1 hour but its effects were diminished by time. The change in duration was expected after that poll, but I didn't notice any patch changes/announcements about the stacking being changed/removed.

er.....aren’t you the one who keeps saying there are too many incentives to make people rush?

I agree that the original 17.0 stamina and food and water were great. But the feedback the devs saw was that it was too much and made perking up stamina too much of a requirement instead of a choice and for mundane things like hitting rocks and trees. You shouldn’t be able to spam power attacks though. They may dial it slightly back up to where it was as time goes on if they discover they went too easy.

IMO, death penalty should be one of the new player options since the sentiment about it is so completely varied. Even the results of death have varied greatly over the history of the game. I remember sometime back you could actually choose to spawn nearby your backpack in addition to nearby or on your bedroll. And then way way back you had a suicide button and your pick of static resoawn points all over the map. Talk about teleportation abuse... :)

........................................

No... there can never be too many incentives for progression (at least imo). If people rush and ruin their experience, it is because the game allows them to, it's not the incentives' fault. What you probably misunderstood, was me saying that it is natural for people to rush, because of the incentives and that it's pointless to tell them not to. But I fail to see how that is relevant here...? (maybe because I am very tired atm).

Yes, I can't exactly blame them with that kind of backlash, I guess.

But never mind stamina, more importantly, do you know anything about the death penalty? Why was it changed...?
