Hey Fun Pimps, Water-specific biome?

I think eventually the game should evolve and add a water specific biome. Maybe in like a 3.0 update or could be a later 4.0 update if they decide to keep adding to the game. Maybe like a swamp or flooded region. I mean we kinda have all the elements, but other than the snow biome, we dont really have a water specfici biome. I know we have flooded caverns and basements but I dont really count those as water specific. And snow can almost be an element on its own. I think a water type biome, specifically like a swamp or marsh land with fog coverage. Similar to Left 4 Dead 2, Louisiana Swamps.

7dtd_sunkenland crossover, at least in one biome 😲

They have commented on wanting to look into making the water dangerous, which would essentially be the same thing. But it's very far down their list of priorities and if they did do something with the water, it would not likely be until after 4.0.

That sounds fun, but I mean like an entirely new biome which is covered by water. Like an underwater city or even just a swamp or marsh land with heavy fog coverage similar to the Swamps in Louisiana like whats portrayed in L4D2, maybe even add like water type enemies like alligators like they have bears and whatnot.
But just adding dangerous water, like acid water that burns you isn't exactly the same thing as adding a whole new biome. But yeah if they did do any of it I wouldn't expect it til like a 4.0 release or even 5.0. Just thought its a fun idea to add to the game if that are looking for things to add more content to the game.

Unfortunately, they have not seemed interested in more biomes when they've been requested. But maybe that will change eventually. I doubt we'll see an underwater city, but wetlands similar to what can be found in Arizona could be an option if they add more biomes in the future. In the meantime, if you are on PC, you can use mods that add biomes and additional art (trees, etc.) to fit those biomes. I don't remember seeing any already made, but just adding a new biome isn't really a difficult thing to do. The real difficulty comes from creating/adding all the art to make it look unique.

The terrain shader is using all the textures that are allowed, that is why the plains biome got cut, so adding new biomes would be limited to sharing the same old textures we've all seen and not really add much to the game IMO. Water could be done without a new biome, but would probably require a lot of effort for underwater exploration to be meaningful, you'd need a few water vehicles, water spawning enemies etc where we have much more exciting things coming.

Is there anything planned in terms of biomes or improvements to existing ones? (new plants, trees, animals, zombies, etc.)
