PC Help on Farming....

So is the only way to farm now by building these farming plots? no more just digging in the ground and planting a seed?

Thanks for the help!

Correct. Right now it's just not worth doing. Too many resources just to grow food when you'll find months worth of food by looting anyhow.

Between constant looting, quests, supply drops, and vending machines, there's no need to farm at all.

Sure, if you play standard difficulty and aren't a beginner. But with zombies always running, low loot and survivalist or insane settings, cooking your produces allow you to get a lot of useful buffs. And some of us don't use traders (no quests, no trade), so it's only a question of personal gameplay. And don't forget RP players who want to take care of their farm.

Its really depend what kind of foods source you are making, like if you not going hunt meats, those vegetables farming is really not bad to collect and plus looting for seeds.

I find farming super useful. The requirements for farm plots and all kinds of skill points or rare seed finds make farming a mid-game proposition now, though. It's true though that it's not essential, and that's good. Folks who fancy it can take the trouble to do it, otherwise you can scavenge or barter all your food.

I mean sure. If you want to eat every 5 minutes and be out of stamina all the time, there's definitely enough canned food to go around.

We farm ASAP. I would rather carry 5 meat stews and some filtered mineral on me than roll the dice and be hungry all the time, thanks.

Disagree here. Farming is *totally* worth doing. Your max stamina is always depleting and you need food to keep it topped off. Foods like steak & potatoes or the meat stew restore up to 50 max stamina. How many canned foods do you need to eat to restore the same amount? Plus I'd rather save my money to either buy glue/duct tape/books/buff potions or to melt the dukes down to brass to make bullet casings. Not to mention you have to do vendor machine runs. Plus you can grow aloe to make first aid bandages.

Food is no longer an issue for me in my game. Have about 30-40 stacks of each major foods/meals - vegetable stews, meat stews, steak & potatoes, etc, etc. Also have about 4-6 stacks left of each of the ingredients just waiting to made into meals. Have about 1-3 stacks of the plants that can be turned into drinks. Have about 60-70 stacks of first aid bandages and still lots of aloe vera left over to make more. I don't grow cotton because there are POIs that give you a lot of cloth.

Even though now that they no longer allow you to dig up existing farm plots from POIs, farming is still worth it in the long run.

I also read somewhere harvesting doesnt destroy the plant so seeds are the gift that keeps on giving. So it's a nice alternative to food. Definitely a more mid/late game thing now altho you can get it at least started earlier since seeds do drop in loot containers.

I really like the farm plot idea. Yeah it takes a little longer to get a good farm going due to having to find so many ingredients to make enough plots but that is part of the fun of it for me. Whenever I go out looting I keep an eye out for the ingredients I need and when I come back I get to add one or two more plots to my farm. I'm finding planting seeds to be very buggy at the moment and I don't plant corn due to it vanishing anytime I leave my base but those are the only problems I've found with the new system.

I agree, it gives the properly functioning farm its value!
