I had an idea of how to add a story to 7D2D with existing game mechanics and POIs. I just don't know how to do it. I know everything is XML files and it is supper easy but I'm a little too old and stubborn to do it myself. So, If you want to make a Story for 7D2D in an easy way then take this and make it your own. Seriously, it's all yours to do with as you see fit! All I want to do is play it! Here is a breakdown:
-Prompt to ask Rekt about how the Virus Started
-Rekt requires 10 jobs completed before helping
-10th job completed, Special job is available sending you to CBP checkpoint finding a letter about a doctor being arrested by Military personnel at Navezgane Hospital.
-Rekt tells you to take it to Jen since she used to work at the hospital (opening Trader Routes)
-Jen requires 12 jobs be done before helping you
-12th job done, Special Job available sending you to Navezgane Hospital. In office you find letter from General officer to a Colonel giving orders to arrest said Doctor on behalf of (this portion is redacted).
-Jen then sends you to talk with Bob, because he is always raiding military POIs for vehicle parts since the Military vehicles were the last ones still running (opening Trader Routes).
-Bob requires 15 jobs be done before helping
-15th job done, Special Job available, sending you to military base the Colonel in the letter was in charge of. You find a letter thanking the Colonel for "taking care of our problem at the Hospital" from Higashi Pharmaceuticals.
-Bob has no idea where Higashi Pharmaceuticals is but sends you to Trader Hugh since the rumor is he lost his eye while raiding Higashi Pharmaceuticals (opening trader routes).
-Hugh requires 20 jobs before helping.
-20 jobs done, Special Job available, sending you to Higashi Pharmaceuticals. There you find a letter from the Department of Defense to Dr. Karren Higashi, letting her know that the underground facility at her residence has gone far over the discussed budget and they expect results or else.
-Hugh tells you that the only person that might know where Dr. Higashi's home might be is Joel since he has lived in the area longer than anyone else (opening trader routes).
-Joel requires 25 jobs before helping.
-25 Jobs done, Special job available, sending you to Dr. Karren Higashi's residence. There you find a letter showing that She and her company were contracted by the department of defense to develop a bioweapon. You also find evidence that the facilities were not properly secured and the virus leaked out to visiting military personnel who flew in from all over the country to tour the facility only to carry the virus spreading it globally.
This is story telling though documentation and give a goal to the game. If you want to make it. Go right ahead, cause I don't know how.
