Harmony.dll failing to load modAPI....

Tried to jump on today on Steam on the new stable and keep running into this issue with Harmony. I've tried reimstalling the game, verifying the game files over and over again. I have no mods installed other than the TFP_Harmony folder and have tried multiple online "fixes" which have yielded no results. I've even disabled my filewall thinking it could be blocking it somehow but that didn't help either. This is the first time I've run into this issue since the 1.0 release added the Harmony folder and the error logs seem to constantly say that its failing to create a ModAPI from Harmony for some resason. I have added the Pastebin link

Video is random because apparently its a requirement to upload a video of the issue. Don't know why that's necessary when I've uploaded the Pastebin link

Hi Epedemic,

We are sorry to hear of the issues you are experiencing. Did you try deleting the 0_TFP_Harmony Folder from the install and verifying files? I hate to ask, but without listing the steps you tried, I'm not sure whether you went that route.

Also, can you tell us whether you have had mods installed previously?

Best,
Dollie

Hey Dollie,

My apologies for the lack of information. These are the steps I have tried in approximate order:

1. Removing 0_TFP_Harmony Folder and verifying the integrity of game files through Steam.
2. Removing the entire 'Mods' folder and then verifying the integrity of game files.
3. Uninstalling the game through Steam and then fresh re-installing.
4. Manual uninstall (deleting all game files from my C drive) and then re-installing.
5. Downgrading my game version and running into the same issue as well.
6. Re-downloading 2.5, verifying game files.

Anything post 1.0 now seems to be broken with the Harmony.dll file always being the issue. I have had mods installed previously by creating a copy of the game directory on my Desktop but always keeping my Steam folder clean (force of habit from Pre-Alpha days). Please let me know if there is any other information you require.

Looking at the log, you have BepInEx installed. For a vanilla game there is no need for that as only a couple mods use it for some reason. Try removing it and then verify your game files a couple more times and see if that helps.

Code:
[Message: BepInEx] BepInEx 5.4.18.0 - 7DaysToDie (3/9/2026 9:00:04 PM)
[Info : BepInEx] Running under Unity v2022.3.62.7762112
[Info : BepInEx] CLR runtime version: 4.0.30319.42000

Thanks for your input, @bdubyah. That's exactly where I was going with my inquiry about any previously installed mods. Wasn't sure why BepInEx would be there if it wasn't currently running anything.

@Epedemic I also agree with bdubyah's call on removing the BepInEx, validating, and trying again to see if it makes a difference.

Thanks,
Dollie

Hey guys,

That fixed it. I cant believe I didn't notice that BepInEx was still installed from Undead Legacy. I Don't know how it stayed installed though even after a clean re-install. I must have mixed up my Steam folder with my copied folder when I had them up on my screen at the same time. Also @bdubyah quite the coincidence you replied, I updated my game to play The Wasteland 2.5. I appreciate the fast replies and quick fix solution @WretchedDollie .

Regards,
Epedemic
