PC Gyrocopter sucks..

Finally I tested the gyrocopter and I find it rather nice. Of course it takes time to adapt to control commands, but it is a pretty fun vehicle.

To be fair, in a real zombie apocalypse, if you flew your homemade gyrocopter on to a tall building, with no idea of how to even land or take off, you probably would also die. So that sounds like a you problem, not an issue with anything else.

The disadvantage of the gyrocopter is that it is very slow. Even slower than a bicycle.

I had hoped to use the gyrocopter to fly fast from trader to trader but with the motorcycle I am a lot faster.

Gyro burns its entire tank in about 5 minutes. You'd have to land and refuel, then find a runaway to get up again. Might be quite a thrill.
Try this

Code:
	<set xpath="/vehicles/vehicle[@name='vehicleGyrocopter']/property[@class='fuelTank']/property[@name='capacity']/@value">40</set>

there is a mod for vehicle speeds.

sadly i cant post my current settings, because i made the Gyrocopter faster, but now you need a real long runway

(i use the gyrocopter only for long travels, arrived i put it in my backpack and use my motorcycle)

....

but well if anyone want it (vanilla is 7,10) remember its WIP

Code:
<set xpath="/vehicles/vehicle[@name='vehicleGyrocopter']/property[@name='velocityMax']/@value">24,7</set>
because yes, vanilla i would never use it

First, for those saying that there are no instructions, there is a wiki entry for it with the controls: https://7daystodie.gamepedia.com/Gyrocopter

Not much, but also not zero instructions :)

Also, a question: people say they can mod the gyro to go faster. How does that work? I'm level 120, day 90-ish, and in all my looting and trading I have not seen a single vehicle mod (or silencer, for that matter).

Where to get?

The point was in game instructions, of coarse there's info outside of the game but why should you ever have to go to an external site to figure out how to play the game.

When they say mods, they mean game mods, not in game mods.

Oh, I thought that the official wiki was maintained by TFP, but you mean the info should be in-game, I see.

Aw crap, ok thanks for the info.

Yeah but the whole point of it was the popping of the zombies the second I landed. I should've been able to see them all laying around. Also, if you had no idea how to land or take off you wouldn't be flying your homemade gyrocopter anywhere. The issue is with collision mechanics in the game. You wouldn't be grinding up against a ramp because the real world physics prevented you from going up the ramp instead of boring into it.

Everyones solution in this game is to mod it. If we have to mod it to make it better, then it sucks. I'm rather hoping that it will get adjusted in game so we don't have to rely on mods to make the game better. For how many points it takes to unlock it and for how slow it is unmodded, it sucks. I can jump on the motorcycle and still get to the location faster than the guy in gyrocopter going in a straight line.

"Mod it !" because it's a game in development. Think about that.

It's fair to point out that you need to express your opinions on things (constructively) while the game is in development because once the cement hardens, it's much tougher to influence the course of development in any way.

I've never used a single mod in 7D2D because I want to be fully in synch with the current game. Once the game is released (or perhaps when it goes beta) then sure, I'll be mod-crazy.

I really like the gyro, but it has specific uses. Its not really intended to circumvent hard pois by landing on the roof, as the OP did. You learned that the hard way.

The gyro however is GREAT as a scouting vehicle to go up, look around, and find cities or towns. In one game I found no towns or cities at all.. I struggled with progress, finally made a gyro, and within a day found several towns I could get to easily.

I think the gyro should come into the game earlier though.. before the motorcycle. Manux's pedal gyro in his mod is GREAT. it comes in at the same time as the motorcycle.

We are finding the 4x4 isn't that attractive because by the time you get it you don't really need it, and two people with motorcycles have more storage than the 4x4 has.

I'm sure its part of that balance thing. The vanilla gyro is great, but by the time you unlock it you probably don't need it for scouting anymore. Its speed isn't really useful for fast exploration like the motorcycle's is, BUT being able to get a bird's eye view of a distant area is great earlier game.

Like the bicycle, it has specific uses which is great.

Hey Royal,

Can you Mod up an IMod for the gyrocopter to go faster? I would love to see IMods for all the vehicles. Turbo, bumber mounted machine guns, .50 cal in a turret for the jeep, missles behind the headlights, James bond esque IMods.

I'm super old and unskilled in GMod creation and the thought of creating a GMod that creates IMods is daunting.

Thank you for your consideration even if you don't want to do it. I totally understand.

Never messed with modding Imods. But yeaa if no one do it before me i have a look on it.

(But i will make no new models, there are others who can do that better)

On the other hand so far i see that TFP is still working on the Imods. I guess the cance is not that bad that 17.2 will have some new ones

(Currently i am busy with my Vanilla+ modlet collection. Need a Kill 2000 zombie testplay (this moment 97))

Btw until then try this modlet

I love the Gyro-copter (well now that I have modded its max speed to 25). It's a female dog to get off the ground, yes, and for some reason you cannot use direct mouse control once you are up (like you can with all other vehicles), but otherwise it is awesome. My current end-game is rushing all over the map doing tier 5 quests for 5 traders in the Gyro. It's actually tremendous fun (if only I needed any of the crap I am looting or being rewarded with, but it is what it is).
And btw you can spiral down from a height almost vertically; just stop holding the thrust key (which will slow it's forward momentum), and bank to one side or the other and you will spiral down.

As for your specific helipad situation, you could have simply driven the Gyro off the roof! Yes you'd plummet straight to the ground, but neither you nor the Gyro will take damage if you do this. You can in fact just drive off any roof at any height with any vehicle and neither of you will take damage hitting the ground. This is our quick way down from large POIs like the Shotgun factory. Get on your Motorbike on the roof and just drive off the edge.
Please tell me where to find the change in the speed of transport in the game files

I was so free to extend your modlet.Maybe you like it and offer a extended version ?

Makes more sense as if i offer a Vehicle speed mod too.

Just test it, its nice

Code:
<set xpath="/vehicles/vehicle[@name='vehicleBicycle']/property[@name='velocityMax']/@value">7,13</set>
<set xpath="/vehicles/vehicle[@name='vehicleBicycle']/property[@name='motorTorqueMinQ']/@value">1500</set>
<set xpath="/vehicles/vehicle[@name='vehicleBicycle']/property[@name='motorTorqueMaxQ']/@value">3000</set>
<set xpath="/vehicles/vehicle[@name='vehicleBicycle']/property[@name='brakeTorque']/@value">3000</set>

<set xpath="/vehicles/vehicle[@name='vehicleMinibike']/property[@name='velocityMax']/@value">18,13.5</set>
<set xpath="/vehicles/vehicle[@name='vehicleMinibike']/property[@name='motorTorqueMinQ']/@value">3000</set>
<set xpath="/vehicles/vehicle[@name='vehicleMinibike']/property[@name='motorTorqueMaxQ']/@value">4000</set>

That the vehicles have problems to accelerate in inclines is simply that the wheels have no grip. Found no value for that until now

Ahh and all vehicles except the bike have now max speed without turbo, turbo is slower but has more torque

Your little left finger will be gratefull

Max speeds are maybe a bit high for average computers. No idea, works fine with my I7 4790k
