Getting X’s or crosses through all inventory slots in both personal and chests inventory since V2.2 (b1) update experimental.

Tried restarting game and server. Validating files etc
No mods installed.

You're connecting to a server.
Either the server is using incompatible storage mods or is still on 2.1.

To confirm that, try an unmodded local game - your problems should be gone

Mods folder on the server is empty, and wasn’t letting us join if we weren’t on version 2.2 b1 - is there somewhere else we need to look? It’s hosted on Nitrado so I am accessing the folders via ftp

The server is modded, you can see that on your second screenshot - the toolbelt is even overlapping the dumping chest. That is clearly not vanilla.
IMHO these kind of mods are incompatible with 2.2 for now and need to be updated first.

If the mods folder is empty, maybe the .\Config\XUi\controls.xml is manually edited on the server?

Have you tried a local game, (just do a new savegame on Navezgane or one of the Pregens for a quick test)?

The toolbelt only started overlapping the inventory as of the last update when the xs first appeared, my guess is because it is showing all potential inventory slots if chest were maxed. Because as soon as we deposit an item it goes back to normal chest size (and x’s only fill in the slots that chest would have)
I’ll take a look at this folder tomorrow and update then - thank you for the help in the meantime
The Xs do not appear on a local save game/new save file.
