Future Update/Suggestion

Hi TFP Team,
I want to start by saying I really appreciate all the effort you put into 7 Days to Die — the work you've done over the years is truly impressive. I had some ideas that I hope could be useful or inspiring in future updates. These are just suggestions from a player who loves the game, and I understand that every feature requires serious development time.

🔩 Copper Ore

Introducing Copper Ore as a new mineable resource would be great.

Copper could be used for crafting copper wires needed for traps and electronic items.

You could also use copper to craft early-game tools (like pickaxes and shovels) as an alternative to iron, increasing progression variety.


🔧 Barbed Wire Fences

Adding barbed wire fences (like those seen on top of prison walls) would add more depth to base defense and design.

They could function as stronger alternatives to wood spikes, or as aesthetic elements for advanced bases.


🛠️ Vehicle Variants

You could introduce alternative vehicles or skins at the same unlock level (e.g., different motorcycle models after 40 books), allowing for more player choice and visual variety.

🌾 Farming Overhaul (Personal Suggestion, I know it may be complex)

I'd love to see a full farming update in the future. Some ideas:

Chicken Coops: Instead of only gathering eggs from bird nests, allow players to craft a coop where tamed chickens lay eggs over time.

Leash System: Add a way to tie up animals using ropes or leashes (for pigs, cows, chickens).

Feeding Bowls: Craftable items where tamed animals eat from and stay nearby.

Cows & Milk: Add cows and a system to milk them, giving buckets another functional use.

Meat Variety: Introduce different meat types (e.g., venison, beef), each giving access to unique recipes.

🔪 New Perk Tree: Scythe & Farming

I believe a new perk tree dedicated to farming/melee harvesting could be interesting.

Add the Scythe weapon:

Can be used both for melee (causes bleeding, chance to dismember)

And for harvesting crops faster.


Farming Perk Effects:

Level 1: 50% chance for double crops

Max Level: Guaranteed 4x harvest yield


Combat Perk Effects:

Increased bleeding damage

Higher limb dismemberment chance



Also, new perk bonuses like:

Faster planting/harvest cycles

More animal-based food drop

Reduced food spoilage or bonus food effects



These are just personal thoughts. I understand a full farming update could take a lot of time and resources. Still, maybe some of these ideas spark something for future versions. Even if only a few elements are considered, I’d be thrilled to see them.

As far as big changes, they have a roadmap that shows what they are doing to complete the game. They are already over 6 months behind schedule, so any significant changes not on the roadmap are unlikely to happen. That doesn't mean you can't suggest them, but just keep it in mind and don't get your hopes up. :)

As far as farming perks, you can already get a lot of crops once you have the Living Off The Land perk maxed. I don't think we need another perk to do the same thing. And they have said they aren't interested in doing animal husbandry (things like chicken coops). Maybe they'll change their minds after gold and do a DLC with it, but from what they've said, I wouldn't expect that to happen before 4.0, if at all.

The seeds I mentioned are already placed in a separate category for the extra harvesting perk. What I’m referring to is the harvesting method where if you break a plant with a sickle in hand, you get extra harvest. If they add this, then the general harvesting perk in the main perk tab could be removed. Of course, since they’re behind schedule with their plans, I don’t know when they’ll consider these suggestions, but it’s definitely worth waiting for.
