PC Food poisoning too brutal? Bug?

I bought a bacon and eggs from the trader because my stamina was at 80 and I had no food. I consumed it, and I guess it gave me food poisoning, not sure, the debuff was gone almost immediately and my stamina/food immediately dropped to 29. It was absolutely brutal; I commenced jumping off the small tower in the trader's lot in an effort to kill myself, which took 4 jumps (if only max health and food were linked, instead of stamina and food).
I am enjoying the new alpha but the food poisoning chance of prepared foods is rough and the penalty I experienced was absolute nonsense. I guess farming is mandatory now because I can barely keep my stamina up just foraging for foods. :jaded:
There was another way out: Sell something valuable if you have no money (sure it hurts but you find a replacement in one of the next POIs). Then buy some food from the trader and/or vending machine. Eat the cooked food first then the cans.

Either way it's all based on luck.

Like that one (or several) time in A17 i think when i started a new world and decided to feed myself on yucca fruit (stationed near or at the desert). First time i got such severe food poisoning, which happened quite frequent, until i stopped eating yucca fruit. Saying that with 1% chance of food poisoning from them back then.

Now the stakes are higher (highest i ate was 6% perhaps chance), yet i have not gotten FP yet. Next playthrough i'm sure it'll go all around and i'll be suffering like the some of you...

There should be more canned food recipies in game without modding those :)

Maybe add some special tools for doing those canned foods to make them not so easy to make.

I've puked 3 times on about 15 grilled meats. It says 4% likelihood for food poisoning, but it's averaging 20% for me. I noticed this seems to happen more when I eat cooked food consecutively. Later I found vitamins and have been using them before I binge on cooked foods without any problem. I actually like this mechanic, even though I went through a lot of cans throughout the process. It brings purpose to vitamins, which nullifies the food poisoning and dysentery effects for a limited time only. Although, once you find the helmet filter, dysentery is no longer a worry.

It's fine, annoying but fine. I wish the higher end stews had an even lower chance of it (2% instead of 4%) but it's fine. In 16 days I have gotten it twice. I ended up sticking to canned foods for over a week until I could build up a good food processing system (grow op and hunting). Also keep some goldenrod tea on hand, just buy it form the vending machine. It knocks the effects of dysentery down faster.

Honestly stick to canned food for a week or 2 and you wont have to worry about it.
