Do Flaming Crossbow Bolts (presumably Arrows too) need some love?
Steel Bolt:
(1) Steel Arrowhead
(2) Scrap Polymers
Flaming Bolt:
(1) Steel Arrowhead
(2) Scrap Polymers
(2) Gunpowder
(5) Cloth
(1) Animal Fat
The Steel Bolts do 63 damage
They have +50% armor penetration
Velocity 82.5
These bolts MAY be recovered
The Flaming Bolts do 38 damage and...
120 damage over 14 seconds
No armor penetration
Velocity 50
These bolts CANNOT be recovered
If you're used to using a crossbow, you don't usually need to calculate a firing arc. The Flaming Bolts (presumably due to their low velocity) will need to be aimed like you were firing a bow (they will land low, even at closer ranges).
Though their potential damage per shot is much higher, I doubt the DOT stacks, so subsequent shots will only reset the timer at best.
You have fire-graphics distracting you at the end of your crossbow (stealth impact?), and engulfing your target.
Large cost difference.
Cannot be recovered.
They're "cool", but I think they need a boost.
If they lose their AP due to low velocity and can't be recovered because they burn up, why would you use these? If I shoot something I'm not going to want to wait 14 seconds to efficiently shoot it again.
Consider increasing AP and base damage and/or doubling DOT damage and halving duration.
