PC Firearms are a joke in this game and have been for several iterations.

Idk why guns are being called useless. A lvl 1 AK and a 2 shotgun with 60-65 7.62 and 70 shells lasted a day 28 horde on a mostly combative base (practically all kills were by my hand due to a cpl weak spots... opps). Threw a few molotovs, but I still had ammo left over. Headshots folks lol, was taking cops out in quarter-clips.

Because zombies take an extremely unrealistic amount of bullets to die. It makes no sense that you have to land several shots to the head to kill them, and it's even worse if you don't have the shooting perks, because even good quality weapons are bad at killing them.

To be honest, guns should be very powerful, but very rare to find. That would solve the issue, I think.

Yeh they should be, and will be in some future update, but right now blow.
So in the meantime, we just mod up the damage. They die in one shot with MY guns. :)

(and yes, I posted the modlet for that)

The machine gun though... well, get enough bullets and it's hilarious.

There ARE drawbacks though.

eg: shoot a pig with a burst? pig gibs and no meat for you. No not gonna change. Either only fire ONE bullet, or use different weapon.

(you don't go hunting small game with a .50 cal. MOOSE, maybe) :p

I agree with this, only with perception buffed up and I have Boom headshot skill, its like I dont even put up spikes and traps anymore. Just aim for the heads and look at them explode.

Man people are complaining so much, because they just want to have it all the same as A16 where it was game over after week 1. I like new changes and it feels like I got a new game, I just need to learn it slowly from day 1. When you die see what you did wrong.

I use books to build forges and workbenches and invest in fighting skills - so I ll level more and invest in those skills later. Problem is people are used to just rush to forge - workbench - traps.... game over after week 1 in A16. Use what you have at your disposal, don't say the game is broken. Cookie cutter builds are broken :)

This new style is way more dynamic and it doesn't have to be difficult if you play it right. And game will get more polishing with mechanics of sleepers, balancing etc. and maybe some levels gating will also change.

Because every living human that has been hit in the head with a bullet has died instantly. No exceptions, no excuses.
The vast majority of humans who experience trauma to the head from bullet wounds die, yes. That is beside the point though. In game abstraction terms, a headshot is lethal, as it should be. In practically all fiction zombies are killed by destroying the brain; that last refuge of neural impulse that makes them go, when they shouldn't. A bullet to the brain case should be killing everything except maybe soldiers and workmen (head protection) and the ferals (by sheer terrifying strength).

I can understand the frustration of FPS pros who are dumping magazines into head hitboxes and not getting anywhere.

Make guns rarer and bullets rarer... I would much prefer it to bullet sponges.
This is the issue. They need to start making the gameplay more challenging (Alpha 17 is at least a step in the right direction). The solution is not to keep buffing the zombies into super beasts. The solution is to start nerfing the players. Less loot, less skills, less construction, less digging, less mobility, less food. Whiners will whine, the rest will enjoy the challenge.

Because the game would then be ridiculously easy?
Because the game would then be easier then even a16?
Easy solution for that: Make firearms and ammo rare again. Right now you get showered with guns and ammo.

I get showered by weapons. I don't get showered by ammo though. But I would want to be able to use guns, else what's the point of having all this new crafting, gun mods, sights, extended mags, silencers, if you never use guns?

I'd personally rather fight more with guns than melee, but that's me. Some might prefer melee always and very rarely use guns. Some prefer to not fight at all :)

A club already does as much damage as a 9mm, and never runs out (ok, you do have to repair :) and pushing people to do more melee isn't necessarily everyone's kind of game.
