Field of View Mod

Can someone post in the thread how to change the field of view. I have read about a dozen different "add this line to x file" with various files and various changes.

I know this is a issue for many people and I thought one Mod thread for this issue would be better than trying to search for "FOV" which is too short to be searched for. Thank you in advance to anyone that helps me out here.

Unsure on that one; BUT, you can do it while it's loading I think (hit F1 at some point during the load process).

Better question is why the hell did they remove it from the video options in the first place? Its one of the a17 changes that just make me scratch my head and ask why?

...pretty much. =)

(I actually think I saw Faatal answer this question, but it didn't affect me so I didn't read it)

One of the Dev's said it was a performance thing. The command worked great, I hit F1 at the main menu (before selecting the continue game) and it opened the console and i used the command you gave me. I'm still getting woozy, and I didnt notice any performance issues at 90. I may try to increase it. Thank you Guys!

It was probably removed because the actual FOV slider doesn't work right now.

It's in the options and you can totally enable it. But it doesn't do anything.

It was removed/locked because they are managing performance via how much is rendered.

Yes. We discovered different devs had it at different settings. That changed the consistent look the designers wanted and it was causing performance issues. The average player often changes settings, not knowing what they are doing, making the game run poorly and then we get the blame, so we locked it down. There is a setting in the ini file, but it looks like debug mode (dm) has to be on for it to use it.

the explanation looks unconvincing, i think there's another reason.

...why is this moved to modding? What kind of person hates modders so much they would continually ruin this section of the forum?

I just don't get it.

This isn't a mod, it's a console command.
