PC Feeedback: 17.1 XP for builder

Royal Deluxe

Refugee
I played now enough time in 17.1 to say that the XP you get by using the chainsaw and Auger is more than enough.

I started with a Q3 auger and Chainsaw + some other stuff that allowed me to focus on building.

But thats not relevant on the question how fast you can gain XP by playing specialized

I looted nearly no pois. (Less than 10 i have gone direct for the Stash)

Means 90% of my activities was

* Disassembling cars (For fuel and repair kits)

* Harvest Surface boulders

* Mining/aka diging to build Bedrockpillars

* Building my base

* Chopping wood, but only arround 30 000

Result lvl 87 on day 21 (Here it is relevant that i started with stuff that removed the rng factor. Means the levelspeed is relevant, that it started at day 1 not)

Anyone other experience ?

Build XP has certainly been boosted. I still find myself chasing after those mobile-XP-entities, but other activities now pay off much more handsomely.

Once I had Steel tools with a few mods and was specced for mining, I get:

Chop one 1200 HP tree: 401 XP (for 4 axe swings)

Mine one complete boulder: 789 XP (for 5 pick swings)

which, given a grunt zombie awards 550 XP and an Irradiated Feral is about 900 XP, seems far too much to me. As the group's miner I am 20 levels higher than anyone else. Mining starts out innocent enough, but soon easily overtakes zombie killing as an XP source. And of course is 100% safe.

Yeah TFP are on the right track.

I'm glad to see they are trying all sorts of stuff.

Eventually they'll reach a nice balance.

I feel like A17.4 is probably going to be a really great build.

I prefer A16 over what we have now but it's still early.

i havent played on 17.1 yet, but found that with steel tools and an heavily perked miner/gatherer of resources yields a lot of xp on 17.0. I mean I could probably level faster now then the zombie killers of our group. and that xp isn't shareable like kills are. so therefore a miner should excel very quickly in the new setup. i cant wait to update our server to better suit my play style, but for now we are staying on 17.0

Safety against underdigging.

Really necessary only for pvp, but i prefer it on Singleplayer too

And in A16 all my bases had a bunker somewhere, so my bases had allways a entry until bedrock

Mining XP got a massive buff in A17.1. It is totally OP now, imo.

Build exp is slow, are we playing the same game? It used to be in A16 you'd get ample exp just by building frames and filling them in. In A17 it is abysmal.

Mining exp is definitely fast though. If that's what you meant.

Well, what are you building WITH? Rocks? Wood? Cement?

If they added xp for PLACING blocks that would be absurd.

I have to double check but even upgrading to Steel only gives you 40 exp if I recall correctly. That's offensive to me lol considering that un-modded it takes 9000 exp to just get to level 2 (Nevermind from 99-100), which would be upgrading to steel 200+ times. In my opinion, WOOD should give 40 exp (at least!) and steel more like 400+. 400 seems like a lot but the fact is by the time you get to the level at which you can upgrade to steel on a regular basis, just looting cabinets also give around 400 exp not to mention by level 100 you are going to be killing zombies left and right possibly irradiated ones which gives 1000+ xp. So how is that any different?

You get exp for upgrading blocks (not placing them). So when I say "wood should give 40 exp" I mean once you place the frame and then upgrade it to the full block. I don't remember the numbers, but in A16 this exp gain was significant enough to where you could get a level up or two while working on your base.

So if you have one guy on your team to where all he does is build (and not gather materials), then he gets the shaft. If your builder also gathers materials, well, that's not too bad I guess.

All the sarcasm aside, the fact remains that upgrading blocks gives miniscule EXP, about 10% of what it should (IMO).

Now, you can make the argument that maybe the dev's don't want upgrading blocks to give much/any EXP, and if that's true, IMO it makes more sense to remove this exp entirely. Why do I say that? Well for one, every other way to get exp is balanced now for the most part except this.

Mining exp - Very good now

Zombie exp - pretty good, but I think Green zombies should give more than they do probably

Looting exp - good

Exp from selling to trader - good

Exp from upgrading blocks - bad

Quests - bad

See where I'm going with this? It's all imo almost balanced now except upgrading blocks. So that should EITHER be buffed or removed entirely (depending on the dev's vision on exp from upgrading blocks). Though, quest rewards are abysmal too, so okay, two things that need work.
