Feedback - Lost World

It's been awhile since I been on here I updated the game & noticed I could not play my world anymore. It says because the world was made in v1.3 & were on 2.2 now. I spent a lot of time in that world didn't anyone think when updating the game there should be an option for console players to upgrade the save so they can continue their world? I really spent a lot of time working on my world building things, making my own roads & what not this isn't right that I'm screwed out of my character & world because the game updated.

Unfortunately, you purchased unfinished software. At this time, there is not a mechanism to "save" a world during major updates. Any major update (1 to 2, 2 to 3, etc) is likely to break an older game. Us PC players have known this for years, but it seems to be new to the console players. Perhaps there's a way to restore to v 1.3, or maybe you can refuse updates until you're done with the world (or at least willing to move on from it). The benefit of moving to new versions and new worlds is that you will get new game mechanics and hundreds of new POIs. Best of luck.

The whole unfortunate it's unfinished & still a beta isn't a excuse for lack of development. I never seen a company before that when they updated a game didn't care if peoples saves would still work. It seems a common sense practice to make sure peoples saves work when updating at any game studio. They could have built the tool to do the upgrade migration to keep it compatible with future versions. Playstation will force the app to update so not much to do there but I never heard of a expect all the hundreds of hours you put into your world building things, stacking items, & exploring also the character progression you made to be wiped.

There's no excuse for it the tools can be made & it should have been a priority since day 1 the fact nobody cared to do it shows a critical problem.

It's been that way for every major update since I've played the game. You console people have just been spared dealing with that until the new version came out. Building a tool would likely take more time than it's worth, if it is even possible. They've always made it very clear that major updates will break saves. They initially hoped after 1.0 that wouldn't be the case, but pretty quickly stated saves would still be broken.

Also, you posted this in the Game Modding section of the forums, which is about as far from anything console related as you can get. Would make more sense to post it somewhere sensible, like Support.

Building a tool to convert the save into the format of the current updated version sounds pretty standard to me this is the first game i've seen that doesn't have one & that is odd. It doesn't make sense to not have such a thing especially for this type of game. I have to live with my world being gone what can I do post my feedback on it.

Btw this is the sub-forums discussion & request with the restructure there doesn't seem to be a feedback section anymore so this seemed like the right spot to discuss it. It's not support because that would inquire I need help with something which I don't.

Eh, you're in the same boat everyone else is in. Most people just understand that's how it works and move on, some have to come and complain even though TFP always has said new games will be required. I certainly wouldn't want them wasting any extra time making a tool, that would just delay future updates even more. Screw that.

This is the Discussion & Requests area, yes, but for Game Modifications, aka mods. So this is not where you should have posted, whether you think so or not.

Then why don't you build it if it's so standard?

You don't have a developer issue or a save game issue. You have a reading problem. How can you purchase "pre-release" software and expect people to sympathize with you when you didn't even stop to read what you actually bought?

The state of pre-release software is not buried somewhere in fine print, but boldly advertised every time you launch the game. You need an attitude adjustment badly! You will get much more help and empathy once you do.
