Feature Request: Optional Snow Buildup & Heating/Freezing Mechanics

Hi TFP Team and fellow survivors,

I’ve been a long-time fan of 7 Days to Die, and one thing I’ve missed since Alpha 16 is the sense of environmental immersion that came from features like snow accumulation and dynamic temperature effects (heating and freezing). These little touches made the world feel more alive and made biome survival more strategic.

I understand they were likely removed due to performance issues or engine changes, but I’d like to propose a compromise:

Please consider bringing back snow buildup and temperature effects as optional settings — with toggle switches in the game options menu. That way, players with stronger PCs or consoles who enjoy immersion can turn them on, while others can keep them off for performance.

Adding toggles would satisfy both groups and restore some of the atmospheric survival feel that made earlier versions special. Survival is more than just combat and loot — it’s about adapting to the world, and those features brought depth without requiring constant interaction.

Thanks for continuing to build this incredible game, and I hope this can spark a conversation or consideration as you move toward 1.0.

Looking forward to seeing what’s next!

Warm regards!

 Temperature is still in the game or, at least, temperature readouts and, word is, TFP will be bringing back temperature effects in some capacity. Whether that capacity will satisfy the majority of the playerbase is anyone's guess. Ways to warm up and cool down would be ideal as opposed to merely draining food and drink, I would think. Snow (and dust) accumulation is something I've never seen in the game having come back to it much later in development. Interesting to learn it was once a thing. Hopefully, it can be a thing again without too much hassle at this late stage of development. Else mods could probably add it, though -- again -- that option wouldn't accommodate console players at all. Console memory limits might also be a factor.

Accumulation isn't really in the game.... I'm actually in the midst of a 16.4 playthrough, so its fresh in my mind. When its snowing, the ground gains a covering of snow, but its just visual. It's still cool and immersive, but its not like its harvestable snow.
