PC Fall pit base design?

Hey guys, I haven't played 7DTD since mid summer and have recently got back into it. I'm jus wondering if pit fall horde bases still work or not? Thanks in advance guys!

I have 2 different fall areas for horde night, where my I sit in the middle, surrounded by columns and spikes... Dogs die instantly... Most zeds lose legs... Doesn't seem to slow cops or ferals down at all...

I haven't tried it but I did read on here that having two drops will work well. You do need to be in the middle for pit drops to work though.

My last pit fall design, before lord md5 taketh part of it away, involves zombies having 2 blocks wide to fall down and spikes on either sides of them and below them. Half of the zombies would clip spike after spike on their 100 block fall and would die before they made it to me on bedrock but I could still loot corpses and swing melee or shoot through with my system. I would love to show what's left of it off.

I tend to turn my spikes over so the flat part sits up... It still deals the same damage and stops the zeds from bobbing like a top... Makes looting easier... I've never put spikes on the side horizontally... Got my gears turning now...

I thought about making a deep pit of over 16 blocks deep so they die on impact. At least PC it does according to that one youtube video guy did a test spawning zombies up high and watching them fall. 16 blocks deep is the sweet spot. Not sure if its confirmed the same for consoles. Its tempting. But could be a pain to pull off with walkers constantly around. Maybe the easiest is to dig a tunnel 16 blocks or more deep. And keep digging where ya want the dig upwards till it caves in.

Then cement the bottom around 17 or 18 blocks deep. Ya would need some kinda square fort in the center pillared up to stand safely while they charge ya and fall in. Probably want torches or some kinda light source down there to see at night. Maybe even a ladder to get down in it to loot the bodies. Might have to try this. But the digging will be a snoozefest. Kinda tired of digging now. Did so much digging. I see tunnels in my sleep.

Or could dig and have about 18 wood frames with me. But ya would want to start early and get the center stable cement fort built. Then widen the trench then dig deep. Could be dangerous with Z's falling down on ya while digging. Shocked I wasn't attacked while digging for that treasure that one time.

That be birds eye view. Empty spots between D and p is dug down 17 or 18 blocks deep. P is Pillars or Cement blocks with 5x5. Then hollowed out with ladder and vault hatch leading down a ladder then bottom -18 blocks or so be a vault door. The center base maybe should be a few blocks higher up so runners don't get lucky. Hopefully spiders die on impact falling down. Other wise would need rusty bars to hold them off while firing sniper rifle.

Sideways picture of ant farm side view. Probably need a draw bridge to get to the safe center area. Center mass be all cement. Hollowed out with ladder going down to bottom for looting. Also vault door on the bottom just in case. I think the empty mass dug out has to be like 5 or 6 spots wide between the center fort and ground cut out all the way around center mass. How long is the draw bridge? I built one but never used it or placed it down. Or could just have 5 empty wood frames and take them when running across or shoot them so zombies fall.

Stick figure of me on killhouse death pit. o

No matter the distance the only thing that will happen to regular Zs is their legs shattering as soon as they land. Fall pits are okay, just seems like all that digging is a waste of time in the long run.

Did you guys not see what I said about sideways spikes? Anyone wanna see my world? My pit started out as a 19 by 19 and 100 blocks deep! Dug with a steel ax no auger in survival

Zombies do take fall damage, or at least they did. That was a couple console patches ago when I used a fall pit design though. The damage is capped at a certain distance though, and you need multiple fall levels if you want to kill zombies. With a single pit from 0 elevation to bedrock the zombies will probably just lose their legs. Crawlers and dogs would probably die on impact. Crawlers were always weird for me and never seemed to want to go into the pit though.
