Extremely low FPS (~4) in every part of game after recent Windows and driver update

As the subject suggests, after a recent Windows update and NVIDIA driver update done at around the same time, the game is unplayable due to an average FPS of about 4. This single-digit framerate persists in the menu, during save loading, and during gameplay itself. It doesn't matter if I start a new game, load a save game, join a multiplayer game, etc. In fact, interestingly, my framerate doesn't really change at all regardless of what I do. Prior to these two updates, I was averaging around 40 FPS during general play, dipping to around 30ish during blood moons or in highly populated POIs, and about 100+ in the menu. Completely vanilla A21 install.Fixes I've tried so far with no success:-Restarted the game-Tried running the game with EAC off-Tried each of the rendering options (DirectX 11, GLCore, Vulkan)-Tried running in both borderless fullscreen and standard fullscreen-Set all graphical settings to their lowest settings-Restarted the computer-Verified the integrity of the game cache/files through Steam (all files successfully validated)-Completely cleaned my client (deleted every trace of the game, including registry files, and did a clean reinstall)-Added the game to my Windows Security exceptions list-Re-installed my GPU drivers with a clean install (have not re-installed the Windows update, as it was a core system update that cannot be easily rolled back)-Double-checked that my power settings haven't been changed (they haven't)-Manually set the NVIDIA driver settings for the game to favor performanceI should also note that it is only 7 Days to Die that is having this issue. Every other game I play is working without issue (Apex Legends, Barotrauma, Wartales, Stellaris, a few others). It does indeed appear to actually be a specific issue with 7 Days to Die, not my computer in general. I unfortunately did not think to grab the log file before the clean reinstall of the client, but here's the log from my attempt to run the game after my clean reinstall: https://pastebin.com/nDaiRjvKMy system info via Speccy, meanwhile, can be found here: http://speccy.piriform.com/results/cxI8Nb0mAZwEi6YjvggBbCr

Update: I found a work-around for now. I disabled the in-game Steam overlay, and that appears to have done the trick for whatever reason. It does make it a bit of a hassle to invite people to my games, but ah, well. At least I can play now!

You should be getting a better framerate.

I think uninstalling some/all of the junkware on your machine would help.

Specifically, all the Asus apps,

the Razor Game managers and other junk.

ROG Live Service.

And whatever these are look like junk as well.

Unfortunately, all of the ASUS/ROG stuff is baked into my BIOS, courtesy of this being a laptop. While I can remove them temporarily, it usually causes system instability, since those programs control things like APU/GPU mode switching, power profiles, etc. The other half of the programs, meanwhile, are part of my ability to access my workplace network if I need to work from home. About the only things I could uninstall would be the Origin stuff and the Razer stuff, but I do still use Origin to launch some games that haven't made it to Steam, and I only use the Razer stuff to close background processes while gaming (plus I have a Razer mouse). All non-essential Razer services are prohibited from auto-starting, so fortunately not a huge resource drain.

No, I think the main reason behind my mediocre framerate is twofold: the fact that this game isn't optimized yet and won't be until/if it goes gold, and the fact that I'm using laptop components, so my processor and GPU are both less capable than their desktop counterparts. Ah, well. 40 FPS in general gameplay and 30 FPS during blood moons is fine for me. Only time I really struggle is when I'm in huge POIs like Higashi Pharma, but even then it's playable, if not pleasant.

No they aren't. Your BIOS just prompts the OS to install Armoury Crate if it isn't installed, or when Windows is imaged. Then you just get prompted to install them all. You can totally uninstall them, and they aren't necessary for APU/GPU switching or anything like that. Nvidia drivers already handle that function. Power profiles are un-necessary, and don't require software. The Razer mouse software isn't required for anything but advanced features, and has been well known for almost a decade to cause problems. I have an Asus system with Razor hardware, and the only tool I use is the AI Suite to manage the fans. Razer mouse and headset do not require Synapse or any other software to function.

Since you have a craptop, you need to slim down as much as possible. Your GPU is borderline recommended spec, and your CPU should be plenty capable if it isn't overheating. As long as you aren't bogging your system down with other crap, it's not getting overheated, and you're using reasonable graphic options. Sadly your log file has almost zero information outside of the hardware information, so I can't advise you much on what improvements you can make there other than the basic stuff. Disable all premium features. Reflections and shadows aren't going to be a thing for you. Extras like SSAO and light rays are fun, but not for an entry-level laptop.

Did you get the GPU drivers from the manufacturer or from Windows updates which have a bad habit of overriding good drivers with their garbage drivers?

You should also re-install the latest chipset drivers from your motherboard manufacturer's website as Windows can sometimes mess with those drivers too making things screwed up.

Aside from that, make sure the ssd the game is installed on isn't full, remove or disable any unneeded bloatware and the game should run fine.

Disable it in your bios. Then uninstall all the junkware that I'd recommended you remove.

If you don't find that your machine performs better, or you miss the stuff terribly, you can

reinstall all of it.

The words "bloatware, crapware, junkware" have come into being for real reasons and

your laptop has real, genuine, completely worthless and un-necessary apps installed. They

really do use resources on your machine that would better be used elsewhere.

I have the same issue was still fine this morning but when I tried to play this afternoon frame rate went down to 2 fps at some points

Also Zombies does not seem to know where you are, my drone is lost and the Gyro copter is broken, it will not lift the front end with space it almost seems to brake like on a bike.

I updated to the latest nvidia driver restarted remove the steam overlay nothing seems to help

I also have the ROG suff but have not tried to remove that.

I have a Nvidia 3080 and a recent i5 intel and I was running at 4k 60 fps no problem till this afternoon.

Please help I have many hours into this save.

I started a new game and that seem to run just fine no frame rate issues.

Do you have a buttload of trees near your base? I noticed that became an issue for me when I planted 60+ saplings and let them grow to full size. I also have a similar rig. I think I just lowered the graphics settings from Ultra+ to Ultra and that fixed the issue for me and was able to keep the trees.

Your drone is lost? I'm pretty sure you have this issue:
