Good Evening,

I play through steam and after the update this happened when I loaded the game, tried to verify and says failed to verify and have 1 file to reacquire? tried uninstalling and re downloading and nothing happens, tried other ways to do it and nothing works, does anyone have any ideas I got the game off CD Keys and nothing happened until the update?

If you need me to upload any more screenshots or anything can you let me know what you need me to do?

System I/O error attempting to read your Saves folder.

Either you have a disk issue, or it is being blocked by security software. The latter is covered in the Pinned Support FAQ thread.

I don't use any outside security software apart from windows and the disk thing seems fine on my half I have other games installed to it and nothing has happened to them, just a bit strange it happened after the new update 2.1 all my mates are fine just me, maybe my profile and saves got corrupted and now I can't play the game, there is not any information in my files anymore like it used to,

I looked at the FAQ's and the ones I thought it was are just about joining the games during red codes, the other one was corrupted saves but I have nothing like worlds or anything because I joined my friends game, there's not much info in my files

Windows Defender is a prime offender, and you can't fully shut it off without partially breaking the OS. Exclude both the client folder, and your save folders from Defender.

D:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\7 Days To Die\
C:\Users\Bradley\AppData\Roaming\7DaysToDie\

Okay thank you for clarifying, both folders are now gone, what are the next steps?

After you exclude those folders, just validate your game client files a few times and then try playing again. You may need to start a new save if the software corrupted the data files in the old one.

I have tried this just now and same thing is happening, validated a few times and came up with the same error

Backup your saves (and generated worlds if you have any) from appdata and use the game lancher's cleaning tool to wipe everything out then give it another go. You may need to manually delete some game files and verify again through Steam, it'll force it to give it a full check.

I have already done the clean thing but I have no game saves after the update for some reason, I am trying to see if I have 7 Days To Die folders that didn't get deleted

Hmm. Something is blocking access to these two spots
Code:
C:\Users\Bradley\AppData\Local\Temp\The Fun Pimps\7 Days To Die\
C:\Users\Bradley\AppData\Roaming\7DaysToDie\Saves

What do your permissions look like for those folders? Right click -> properties -> security tab

so the permissions are the exact same the ss above and also I can't see the saves folder as it doesn't show for me, by the sounds of this I can't do anything, I have tried a lot of solving issues and still no progress, the only way I'm probably going to be able to play is through the Xbox app which I don't have the game on Xbox but as this issue is current it may happen on there as well.

Hm, the only thing I can think of that would block it is a third-party antivirus (windows defender wouldn't even do this without exclusions). Are you sure you never had anything like Mcaffee installed that came pre installed or something? I know Mcaffee specifically (probably more) actually still run under obfuscated service names after a user uninstall and can only be uninstalled using a special uninstaller. Other than that I'd have to poke someone and ask/do a little researching.

If you don't have the save folder, you can try just creating one yourself.

Don't forget to check the permissions of the user account you're signed into, the one I blacked out due to my email being there is the one I'm signed into with those permissions. System and Admin will have it all by default

Okay right, I made my own save folder and the game loaded but now I have this on the log with some other errors and the cross play isn't working,

All my permissions are granted and I have never had Mcaffee installed as I built my own PC, only thing I had was Norton about 4 years ago when I built it, I didn't need it though and never used it so it's been uninstalled for ages, plus this has never happened until this update with 7 Days played about 18 hours and now 19.5 trying to fix the issues.

The create my own save folder helped me get into the game now but these issues are now here.

Yeah you definitely don't have rights to write to appdata then, or well, the game doesn't. Are you running the game as admin (if so that can cause issues, as it should point the game to the appdata of the Admin account, I believe)? Also, check to see who the actual owner is by going back into properties -> security -> advanced, make sure it's you and not like the admin account.

I have went into the advanced and it's me that has the full ownership, I don't force the game to run as administrator either
