Example mods which substantially alter (not add!) vanilla recipes?

Just need the reference for the .xml, because I'm trying to alter some vanilla recipes. Oddly I've been having a real hard time trying to find mods which ALTER rather than replace or add recipes. Maybe that's on me, but it doesn't seem like a common thing people try to do.

Also need a reference for changed vehicle characteristics, but that's easier to find... I think (having trouble finding one which makes vehicles more durable, so I'm not sure if it's better to do this via increased HP or damage reduction).

 
What exactly are you trying to change in the recipe? Things like the craft_area or just used ingredients? I've edited some, but depending how many changes you wanna make it's just easier to remove the vanilla one and then append it back in with all of your changes.

Yeah, I notice a lot of things go the remove route, which was the trouble I was having, lol.

All I really want to do is change the number of engines and amount of steel required for Motorbikes, 4x4s, and Gyros. It's just a quick kludge for making late-game vehicles have a higher opportunity cost.

Removing the recipes for the components (chassis & accessories/handlebars) is an interesting thought too now that you bring it up (forcing you to buy vehicles or parts), even though I know you meant remove-and-replace. Probably won't be necessary? But I might play around with that to see how it works.
