Error "object reference not set to an instance of an object" while joining a friend to the server

When i'm trying to join on the friend's server i have this error in console: "object reference not set to an instance of an object" And then loading stops on "loading character".

 
Are you running mods?  What mods are you running?

And that error can be anything without any details provided.

 
I have no mods, just wanna play with friend and having this error in console. Can you tell me please what detail i need to give you?

 
This should be in general support then, not mods discussion.  In that section, there is a post at the top saying to read it first.  It has directions on what you need to do to get assistance.
