PC End Game (or long term goals)

Long time player but I've mostly just lurked around the forums. I was just wondering if anyone can imagine some good long term goals for this game, something that we could work towards even beyond reaching max level.

As it stands, it just feels like all we are doing are leveling up to a certain point and then just resetting to do it all over again. I just think it would be cool to say have an npc settlement that we could work on throughout our time playing; to get them to where they can successfully defend against the 7 day hordes. Alternatively, we could also have several complex under/above ground facilities that we have to work through in order to create a vaccine. A vaccine that say could even make you immune to turning unless you die.

Ultimately, I just feel this game could use some sort of end game or goal for us to works towards besides just leveling up and was wondering what the others on here feel could be a good end game for 7 days to die.

I started a thread on this a week or so ago, I'll try to remember to link it for you. But I actually (kind of) like the lack of story line end game here. I know I'm in the minority with that statement, but I like playing to see how long I can survive and how cool I can make a base. Would be cool if there were some bigger boss zambies for late game BMs though.

It's a sandbox game. I don't know why everyone feels there needs to be an "end game" to every game.

For the elements of the game that are common to each other, Dying Light is better than 7DTD in just about every way I can think of and yet I'll never get as many hours of enjoyment out of DL as I have out of 7D.

Because it is a sandbox and DL is not. (although ea does have a way of getting you to do the same thing over and over that you probably wouldn't in a finished product)

Posted this a couple weeks ago...

Here's how I would do it:

Endgame would be to try to build/repair a huge plane, that you need to find, to get out and "win" the map. (Maybe get to somewhere where the rest of the survivors are?) You would have to find the parts and books to "learn" how to fix it.

There would be 4 main zombie spawners in the world all around the map. Each control a big radius where every 7 days they go active and spawn what you now know as 7 day Hordes.

The closer you get to them, the more feral and deadly zombies you will find. (Every spawner would be guarded by a mini-bosses if they were to be added) If destroyed you get 7 days without a horde in that big chunk of the map, giving you time to go and loot/find the pieces for the plane. (normal zombies would still roam, just no 7 day or roaming horde) Trying to go kill one should NOT be easy and probably be left for mid-game or when you feel decently geared.

You could be able to create/find/buy some kind of detection device that will let you drive around and detect if there is a spawner near. The red horde sky when near a spawner would let you know you’re near one too.

All of this would be, of course, mid-to late game when you have transportation to travel across the map. (Probably more suited for multiplayer but still very doable in SP)

There’s more, but in a nutshell…

I do like the idea of settlements and having your own "town"!

I think i also replied to this in another thread.

There were some good ideas there.

My thoughts on long term goals.

Cleanse the map.

Basicly, you clean a city by fighting a horde in it.

Big city, big horde, small city, small horde.

Either trigger it by killing a certain amount of zombies, and/or fighting the 7th day horde

in it.

Once cleaned, zombies will not respawn in it, since i hate sloppy work. Period.

They might walk in from outside, but not spawn inside a city. And, as a bonus,

npc's might start to repopulate the city and form a settlement , with traders.

Maybe you can influence the type of settlement, ie farmers, crafters, chemists.. etc.

As a little evil twist however, bandits may start to take advantage of no zombies,

and they might start spawning in the city.

Now that could be a longterm goal, and mostly voluntary.

edited: The long term is of course to clean every city on the map.

As a bonus effect, the players themself might to a certain degree control

when bandits come into play, and they will not be a threat early in the game.
