End game armor set

Refugee
raider helmet - Stun resist 100%, muffled connector helmet light mod, treasure hunter mod, advanced fitting mode
raider outfit - crit healing +50%, muffled connector , triple armor pocket, bandolier, advanced fitting
preacher gloves - undead damage +60%, armor triple pocket mod, advanced armor plating mod
nomad boots -run speed +20%, advanced armor fitting, stealth boots mod, impact bracing mod

Is that basically the best end game armor combo?

Looks pretty good to me. One could go for full raider, if you do mostly melee; the run speed is the best general boot, but not necessary. You'd gain crit resist and some armor (surprisingly strong per point at the max reduction levels). Guns would take a little hit (around 15-20% actual reduction), so if you're mainly using those, not worth the trouble.

Usually I run with the nerd hat for that juicy XP, since you're already mixing. Stun resist is nice but can also be gained via beer. Swapping around is always possible of course.

I'm maxed on XP. Level 300. The stealth/muffled mods don't seem to do much though. So I'm not sure what I'd replace those mods with.

It really just depends on how you play. There are obviously armors that aren't as good for actual fighting because their bonuses are for things like farming or mining, but any armor or set that gives fighting-related bonuses is going to be a good option. Which is better will vary by person. There are those who will stick to the entire preacher set just to avoid infections because that's most important to them. There are those who prefer melee and will want armor that boosts melee. Others prefer guns and prefer armor that boosts guns. Same for those who prefer archery. You have those who prefer stealth and would want armor that boosts stealth. There are also those who rarely get hit because they are good at killing things at a distance, so things related to taking damage or debuffs aren't as important to them as things that boost their own damage.

In short, just pick what works best for your playstyle.

As far as mods go, they aren't really that important. I'll use the bandolier for faster reloads and the helmet light mod since I reduced brightness in the game and it's actually difficult to see at times without it (or I'll use the fire mod on my melee weapon to see), and I'll of course use the pocket mods. But beyond that, the rest can be useful but isn't really necessary. I often don't bother adding other mods to my armor even though increased armor mods can be useful. The game isn't really that difficult, so stuff like that is not a big deal to me.

It really depends on the character build... and what kind of armor the player prefers.

With the books heavy armor really has no downside, but FWIW I still gravitate to a combo of light and medium armor (Rogue Hood, Scavenger Outfit Preacher Gloves, Biker Boots)

Heh. I used to use heavy armor all the time with the old armor. Now, I just pick the armor that gives me the boosts I prefer. I'm not even entirely sure what level armor it is that I wear. That's how little I really care about the armor bonus these days. :)

I just use full Raider for the most protection. Late game, even the Preacher gloves bonus doesn't seem (to me, at least) make much of a difference.
