PC Early Arrival of Feral Zombies

Yes, there is a rare chance they spawn at night, so stay indoors and don't travel at night so they don't spawn.
I had a feral in a poi on day 1 during the day when I looted it. Warrior Diffculty, I killed it, but man it scared the crap out of me lol good times. Was in the loot room, so probally guarding the goods. Sad thing was the loot in that poi ended up sucking, rng screwed me there XD.

I got my rear end handed to me by a boar. A boar! A18 has definitely made me more cautious again. Day and night.
Yeah do NOT mess with boars unless you got a gun, trust me on this, they are nasty mofos in a18. Don't even try to melee one early game you'll regret it, same for using a bow, just don't, use a gun, any gun, well any except shotgun as if any pellets spill over its hp total it'll damage the body meaning less resources.

On night 1, I took cover in a small hut to recover health after getting my face pecked off by vultures. Husband was outside gathering resources, and a zombie cop started barfing all over him...sent him back to his bedroll pretty quick lol.

Yea the boars are nasty they even jump high now to bite you i was standing 2 blocks high and it pushed me off the block and killed me right after

Yeah the boars are no joke. Day 1, I threw 2 spears at one and nearly died but somehow killed it and survived (4 hp left lol). I felt like tom hanks in the movie castaway but instead of screaming "I Made Fire" I wanted to yell "I Kill Boar...Roh Roh roh" lol...

Seen a dire wolf at around day 2, but of course decided not to run far enough and it slowly creeped closer to a POI i checked nearby. Imagine my surprise when i came out...

Seen quite a few ferals at night. Once started a fight at night with a zombie and it turned out to be a feral. Just before i downed him, another 2 came along. I was lucky to have a junk turret on me with ammo.

Good times :D

EDIT: In current game i killed only 2 boars (seen one other, but left it alone). Important note to mention is each boar killed me before once. So it was something like:

- Free food! *runs after the boar*

- Leave me alone! *runs from the boar, still trying to kill it*

- Now i'll get you *hits the wounded boar from afar with bow*

- Finally... *cuts the corpse with bone shiv*

I guess that the ferals we meet during the day in the countryside are just night ferals that haven't had the opportunity to despawn.

The ones I was posting about were definitely from the day. And they were not a part of any horde - they rose near my home.

Feral Zombies are normally associated with a higher Game Stage. I was at Game Stage 10 and less when I was seeing then, which I think is very new, as ferals were always a part of Game Stage progression, which was tied to your level, your longest life, and the size of your group. I am not sure if anything has changed, but being less than level 1, during week 1, on Scavenger, and by myself, I never expected to see one so soon.

Still taking notes on changes. I ended up getting infected early on and could not find what I needed to cure myself - even after a thorough raid of the Hospital in Diersville. My first death was Day 10 due to 100% infection.

I seen a snake jump a fence earlier, was only a 1 block fence but they never used to be able to do that lol.

Yeah I don't even touch boars without a gun, don't use a shotgun thou as like I said if you kill it, the extra pellets will hit the body lowering resources from it, but a pistol, hunting rifle, ak47, smg, etc all reccomended tools for killing boars and wolves/mountain lions etc. The Mountain Lions actually have a nickname: Murder Kitties as many a streamer died to them trying to fight them without a gun.

I love it. TFPs are claiming a ton of player deaths lol!!!

I am happy to report I have yet to die.......yet lol. Most because I've only played until day 3 due to limited play time. 😁

Wait for it...

Thank you for the reply, Joel.
I have seen at least a half a dozen in the first week, and it was daytime, actually. Took quite a bit of effort at that level, but still managed it. My first death was on Day 10 after getting infected. I looked around, but to no avail. Even a trip to the hospital in Diersville did not yield an antibiotics! I hope they can still be found at Pop 'n Pills. I was a bit surprised by that. 100% infection did my character in. The new infection system is quite intriguing and has good realism.

Also, every workstation I've found out in the world so far have been destroyed. Can they still be found functional? Thanks for your time!
try with quest

with daring adventurer 1, or something like that, don't remember if is the correct name, i got antibiotics and herbal antibiotics as reward

Interesting idea. I did find a bit if honey from a well known tree stump location. Also have been spotting them on Traders. Still not a single antibiotic by Day 21! I do know a location that should have herbal antibiotics in the Mountainman Chest, but have not tried for it in A18.

Update: Am finding operational workstations in the world.

It must be tough beeing a new player nowadays. I still remember my first game, whch was in a much easier version fo the game, and I still struggled at the start, even raging bc I died many times trying to retrieve my body after the fist death, not knowing anything about beeing stunned by hits, or how the crossair had to be on them bc the swing part of the weapon didnt hit, or even stamina management.

THIS is the much easier version. Alphas pre-A17 were much harder starting out. Pre-A16 zombies were everywhere and starting out was an amazing thrill. It's a piece of cake now.

Really? It may be, I still remember my first game, starting in the wastelands and running searcing for a forest, I had to evade zombies constantly.

But on the other hand there were no early ferals, no enrage mechanics, no complicated food and water mechanics, I dont remember infection beeing a problem, no encumbrance, I would say stamina management was easier altho Im not sure, and so on.

I'm just glad guns aren't too hard to find. Getting chased by a feral or dire wolf by day 2 is a pucker moment but awesome at the same time.

I feel your pain. I've died twice around Departure due to not being able to find a single antibiotic. I have a crapton of vitamins now; but still no antibiotics. And no way to make them on the horizon (though I'm leaning heavily into Intellect to try). I have a feeling once I get Yeah Science! up high enough to make them, they'll start dropping from everything. :D

Hehe, that does tend to happen. Someone else was trying to show someone complaining on not finding things that randomness is back to being better in the game. I do agree that uncertainty is very important for replay value. I remember a playthrough in A14 and not being able to find any calipers! These days, I am keeping a wide eye open for antibiotic recipes when not playing a smart character (high Intellect).
