PC Early Arrival of Feral Zombies

I am seeing feral zombies by Day 2 on Scavenger difficulty. Is this intended??
Yes, there is a rare chance they spawn at night, so stay indoors and don't travel at night so they don't spawn.

They seem to be in full effect just had 3 my first night. With this plus the rage mechanic the game certainly won't be easy anymore.

They are mostly weak class feral zombies not bikers or anything, I always keep a gun with some ammo in case things get too nasty. They aren't any tougher than a snowman at night.

I'm definitely not complaining. It keeps you on your toes and challenging content is far more exciting. The death penalty is far more forgiving now so I dont see any harm in forcing the player to play it safer early on or to risk getting chewed on by a feral.

I got a nice surprise with a visit during the 2nd night. I went out to see what zombie is causing the ruckus, walking over trash and stuff... Imagine the surprise with 4 dogs come running around the corner and into the upstairs room campsite :)

Haha. Yup, I've reverted to having a healthy fear of the night again. It's nice, but maybe not great for my blood pressure. ;)

We got a feral moe on night 1, and it wrecked my entire group. We were so not prepared for this level of blood pumping rad. I love lil surprises like this.

I was like.. "that thing has glowing eyes... oh #@$^ its a feral! HALP!" a two to three minute battle ensues while we try to zerg this thing with our primitive bows and spears.

It is ridiculous to fight in the dark, especially in the 10 minute stretch where there's absolutely zero visibility.

BTW, the zombie dog growls are the best..

I had a feral nurse after Day 2 into Day 3 morning on Warrior setting. She promptly ate the pizza and not in a good way :( This was after daybreak at 0400

Hmmm. This is the first alpha where I am confidently going out at night to do stuff. There's so few zombies in the world in general it's pretty safe.

Nights are a thing now. If someone isn't running into them at night, well, I don't know. I certainly am. Enough so that I don't go out at night unless it's to teardown an already cleared and blocked off area of a POI.

Seems appropriate for warrior setting. 😁

I got eaten by a dire wolf in the middle of the dang day! On a road even! On day 2!
Wolves love eating cats I hear. 😅

I just got kilt by a feral wolf on day 1, it showed up at the tag end of a POI fight, I popped it with a bowshot never thinking "maybe this isn't all that great an idea" and my last vision as the blackness poured on to the screen was its glowing eyes staring in to mine..

This is on nomad though, I've been adapting to the combat changes, I wish early combat wimpiness meant more of more stamina use and less of less damage, a full crack to the head with a club that size should do some serious frikken damage even if you're not all that strong.

Thank you for the reply, Joel.

I have seen at least a half a dozen in the first week, and it was daytime, actually. Took quite a bit of effort at that level, but still managed it. My first death was on Day 10 after getting infected. I looked around, but to no avail. Even a trip to the hospital in Diersville did not yield an antibiotics! I hope they can still be found at Pop 'n Pills. I was a bit surprised by that. 100% infection did my character in. The new infection system is quite intriguing and has good realism.

Also, every workstation I've found out in the world so far have been destroyed. Can they still be found functional? Thanks for your time!

Never heard of it. Is that the name? It wasn't a dire wolf?
Perhaps it was a feral pettifogging attention whore. I wouldn't know the name the game engine uses for it because I'm too lazy to read the zombie labels. I called it feral because of the glowing eyes.
