PC Duct tape required for...

Duct tape is one of the easiest things to find/make ingame not sure what the complaint is. There are much harder things to find/make.
It can be depending on where you are, but for some players who enjoy camping out in the middle of nowhere where loot containers (and even trash piles) are scarce, it's an unnecessary gate for progress. 7d2d has gone through lots of iterations of gating, but it really soars when all playstyles are encouraged. Not needing tape for a splint meant people could wander and make splints on the go as needed rather than search for a very unique item. A bellow is just a single item, but A., if youre no where near loot containers you'll never find it, and B. it represents the bigger picture that unnecessary gating just to make things harder doesnt necessarily make it better. Thanks for your feedback though!

I have no issues with needing duct tape for the bellows but maybe reducing the cost from 5 to 1 would be better. I'm kinda sure the cost is 5 duct tape for the bellows which is a bit high.

You can literally make glue at a campfire with murky water and a large bone, and then glue + cloth for the tape. Your location doesn't matter, for the purpose of this discussion, though people who choose to move out into the middle of nowhere and not scav for things may have to take an extra few seconds to get things together.

It doesn't require any real measure of searching, and requires no points into skills to create. Having to use something to bind the splint makes sense, though you could make the argument that another material, such as leather or plant fibers would also do the trick (or be a second item to make in the list), but it's silly to complain about it as being a gate issue when it really isn't. I don't see this as any kind of problem when you can literally do it within minutes of starting the game, isn't difficult by any real measure, and the people who choose to camp in the wilds are getting the very experience they wanted...the lack of convenience and items that go along with searching and looting. :) Just my 2 cents.

The issue is that the devs are trying to deny the silent majority of the "only camp in the wilderness and stay away from towns" players their preferred play style.

Bad Devs!

Preparedness is the word, well its A word. Surely(yeah please dont call me shirley!) all you boy scouts should be prepared. Dib dib dib, dob dob dob, rub two boy scouts together to make a fire and all that stuff.

A proper outdoor/scout/mountain man type would have duct tape with them or be made of it! or have it in their blood stream or the like. Rumour has it madmoles beard is 90% duct tape (10% crumbs for those wondering!) and if you look carefully rolands shirt is pure duct tape!

for me preparedness is my new discovery of drinks for this summer

Just found a nice drink powder that taste not too chemical, with zero Sugar.

58 Packages (58 sorts) enough for arround 120 Liter limonade for 20€

and additional a 3L Thermos bottle (With the current weather the icecubes was at arround 50% after 6 hours)

Well prepared for the summer

(btw i have 4 rolls of duct tape and 12 packs of instand glue if we stay more at the topic ^^)

When talkng about boy scout survival, i see people using ropes made out of plants, tools from sticks and rocks, as well as making food out of various plants and leaves.

Now, i wonder how the stone on the stoneaxe holds itself firmly... Or where did you find a long enough and sturdy stick/log to use for a shovel.

Reading through this I shall never look at duct tape the same ever again.

I used to leave them and think nothing of it. Now I shall harness the power of the tape and never look back.

Now we just need WD-40. I’m positive that the lack of it is why the shopping carts don’t move...

Well, WD-40 would be OP, as a wise man once said:

"Duct tape makes it stop, WD-40 makes it go. The only two things you need in your toolbox."

We can't have it all.

I would think that something like PB'laster is what would lubricate sticky wheel. WD-40 is a Water Displacement liquid. Water displacement, formula 40. Maybe one of the old oil-cans like I use on my antique tractor to lubricate things? We already have oil in the game!

Bonus tip: If you spill gasoline (E0) or gasohol (E1-E85) on your concrete garage floor, soak it with WD-40, then wipe it up. No stains!

Bad Devs!
And the other, larger, silent majority where all gave me their proxy votes.

So, I'm just going to say it:

1) A BIGGER Al's Marina (and burrito bar).

2) Airships that can travel to a New York map with subways, skyscrapers with some interconnected in a jerry-rigged fashion.

3) When in doubt, re-read item 1.

You know, i'd love to see a New York stylised map... Just imagine all those POIs undermined with the subway tunnels and sewers... There wouldn't be any stability and everything would fall to pieces @.@

Folks are complaining now about how RNG places Radio Stations every 20 yards, why replace them with Starbucks in a New York styled map? hehe

I like how you think!

There could be so many subways and sub-subways, abandon tunnels. The rich people live above and the poor at street level plus a lot of factions. Maybe getting a freighter fix and running to flee to Europe where the zombie apocalypse hasn't reached them... yet.

Imagine if the Traders gave quests and the 5th in each Tier was for a needed part to repair a Freighter that could get you to Europe where it's safe. Tier 1 - Get a set of Sea Charts from a Captain's House. Tier 2- Get a compass and Sextant from a Safe ect.

Would help encourage players to progress towards an End game goal.

EDIT: Tier 3 Gather Crate of Duct Tape to repair Ship's Hull. (there Thread back on course)

Well, I can understand the idea on duct tape for splint, but can't one for bellows.

The former is that splint was too easy to make, which makes broken leg as nothing. Splint can be made anytime and anywhere with ridiculously cheap ingredient. "Broken leg" was identical to "Splinted leg".

The latter case, we usually craft bellows on base or at least on camp, where glue and duct tape are well stocked. It's just frustration rather than diffucult to require duct tape, where forge already requires iron pipe, clay, stone and leather.

Cloth armor, splint and bellows requires duct tape. What's next? At this rate, you may consider stone axe or bedroll to require duct tape, soon =P

In real life you wrap your stone and stick with grass fibers and I’ll wrap mine with duct tape and we’ll both fail at chopping down a tree but at least mine won’t have to be rewrapped after every strike.... ;)

Bandages could need Duct tape

One bandage = 2 Clothes 3 Duct tapes
