Drowning in ammo...

There are a lot of seeds in the trash. At the beginning of the game, until you have developed farming skills and can’t make seeds yourself, this is very useful.
I've never crafted seeds, not even in the past. Somehow, I'm always finding seeds.

Is it me that's thinking this or is this a common thing.
I have a feeling that there is too much ammo in loot, unless you're using a rapid fire machine gun of a smg i have boxes and boxes full of ammo after a couple of horde nights.
My current loadout is a auto shotgun shooting slugs and I can't remember the last time I even needed to think to craft ammo.
Even my auto turrets can run continuously without me ever needing to make ammo.

I knew from a time I played on PS4 I definitely needed to craft ammo in order to use guns but now since I play on my PS5 it feels like I hardly should use melee because ammo is so abundant.

I'm not saying ditch the ammo in loot as a whole but instead of having 30-40 rounds reduce it to maybe 4-8 or something,

That is the official playstyle; full tank armor for damage immunity and complete disregard for your HP, while spraying everything down with a bullet hose. Would be a shame if you had to craft ammo for it...

Other ways to play? Ehh, you're not a man without a minigun!

This problem started either in A20 or A21. I don't think anyone has been crafting ammunition since then.
I used to craft AP ammo for my second gun to take out armored zombies (mainly demos.) Don't really need to do that any more, though.

Maybe it's the version you're playing on, but, in 2.2 and 2.3, I'm NOT 'drowning' in ammo. Rather, I do have enough, not overly enough, just, enough. Granted, I'm only up to level 50ish in 2.3 and still mostly meleeing, but was up in the 70s before I wiped 2.2 and started over and was mostly using SMG and Pump shotty. I wound up making shotgun ammo because I wasn't finding enough. RNG, maybe? I know it was really bad in 2.1 and, yes, 'drowning' fit that version, but now.. eh?

Edit* or maybe.. your settings?

I play on 25% loot, and I have so much ammo it's insane. I want to drop it, but it's worth decent cash. I need to make special runs to all the vendors to sell it though.
I've been spending pretty equal parts questing, constructing and mining, so I'm not powergaming the quests. It's one thing for something to change...a bit, but I'm finding...200%?...300%? the ammo I did in previous versions. It's mostly all AP too.
Wish you could break it down and get the gunpowder from them

I dunno. I admit, I use no ammo other that Hoard Night, and then it's well under 10K 7.62 rounds, but that's been the case for a very long time.
In older versions (not sure exactly when things changed) I needed to mine coal and nitrate and harvest brass to be certain my stock was maintained. I never had enough from just finding ammo or buying it.
Currently I spend a day or two running around selling ammo to vendors...as much as they'll buy. If I don't do this each week, my three crates of ammo start to overflow.

I've played on Insane since very early on, so nothing's changed there. I think the amount of ammo dropping under 25% loot is much greater than before.

Lucky you I had a farm of like 40 corn before I made a new save i always needed more seeds

I think simply put..normal civilian zombies shouldn't drop ammo. Only Solders, bikers, thugs, cops

That's were i get most of my ammo that and infested box's (i think they need to be nerfed)

I think they should make it to where you can find 1 full stack of each of basic ammo, but after that you are on your own for ammo.

They very much need to address how powerful perks and armor can make you. I would imagine balancing the game would be easier if perks gave more reasonable bonuses and armor just gave armor bonuses with varying aesthetics or at the least tone down some of the buffs and remove fantasy buffs that make no sense.

Perhaps then people who want to melee in T5 would need to use ammunition instead of meds to keep them going.

Yeh, they don't like math thou. The armor rating system as an example, +1 armor = +1% reduction. Pretty much every other game balances armor into curves to stay away from the obvious problems going linearly to 100 causes, but here we happily go PAST the 100 on occasion. Just to be .. simple. The difference between 90 armor and 99 is only 9%, right ;)

Just started a Valheim as they released a combat system patch, removing a whole lot of the old clunkyness; makes me appreciate a well planned game progression (it's linear AF, but at least you're mildly terrified going into a new biome, half a dozen times per playthrough). Going into black forest, things hit you hard .. you gear up from there, they really don't anymore. You move to the swamp and you're getting steamrolled again.

When I get turrets online, I don't find myself drowning in ammo. Usually I tend to have to start crafting shotgun shells and 9mm ammo to keep up with the turret usage and my own weapons
