Drone Bug

Hello all, first time here.

On a paid for server that me and my friends use, we all have Drones. My drone got lost somehow. I've tried all kinds of things to get it back. Followed all the advice, did the JD Clear command, dug to the bottom of the earth where it's location was supposed to be, etc.

Nothing works.

Is my only option left to go into the files (Files on my PC or on the server I'm not really clear on that?) and delete the drone?

Thanks for any help!

If jd clear doesn't work and you can't find the drone, you can delete the two drone files from the server (probably while the save isn't running).  Just be sure everyone has their drones picked up before doing so or they'll lose them.  You will likely have to use jd clear after doing that.

It has been mentioned that drones that get lost have been showing up after a couple of days by a couple of people, so it might just reappear on its own if you don't want to delete the files.

Thanks for the reply Riamus.

It wouldn't matter that much if all the drones got deleted, we could just make more I guess.

The big thing is it's a pack mule for us when we go on quests and not having one really sucks.

Do you know where the instructions are when going into the save file on a server to delete the drones?

Select the two files that start with "drones" and delete them. (while the server is off).

As Beelzybub said, delete those 2 files.  They should be in the Saves folder for the save game you are using.  Remember that you may need to use jd clear in the game afterwards.

I apologize for all the questions and I do appreciate the help. Here's my File Manager at BlueFangSolutions.

Hrmmm, it won't let me insert a clipped picture.

But in my file manager I do have a "Saves" folder.

However, in that "Saves" folder, I only have one folder and two other options.

The folder in there is called "Tayolupe County" and the two files are serveradmin.xml and sdcs_profiles.sdf

Am I in the wrong folder?

I did notice that if I went into "Tayolupe County" folder there is a Scarilandia folder and in that folder there are a bunch more folders and some files and two of the files within Scarilandia are Drones.dat and Drones.dat.bak.

Do I need to delete those two files?

Tayolupe County is the map/world you're using.  Inside that world will be individual saves, one for each game on that map (the names of which will match whatever you called those saves).  Go into the folder for the save that you are using and those are the drone files you need to delete.  If you are unsure, you can make a backup of them.

Ok, there is only one folder in there called Scarilandia. I think that's because it's the only game we've played on this map.

Once I get the rest of the crew to pick up their drones, I'll delete Drones.dat and Drones.dat.bak

Ok, I stopped the server, went into the save folder and deleted out the two .dat drone files and went back into the game and it didn't work.

But Beelzybub up above says they are .xml files that I need to delete, so I must have found the wrong files. Ugh.

Did you use jd clear afterwards?  Note that since I don't use servers, I don't know if that requires the person with the problem to use it or the admin or if it doesn't matter.

The XML thing was just a mistake.  They are drones.dat and drones.bak.dat.

I've taken both of these steps and neither clearing he drones.dat and drones.dat.bak nor jd clear help.
Listing jd players when the user joins always reveals a drone with unknown location. jd clear removes this unknown drone, but upon rejoin it's back

After that (I thought I posted) Today I used the join notifiications to identify the user's steam ID, we recorded all of his perk books and skill levels and I ".olded" his player in %appdata%\7DaysToDie\MAPNAME\SAVENAME\Player, and then manually deleted him out of players.xml (saving a .old for a fallback) and making sure to delete the whole <Player>... </Player> block.

He's back now and can place drones (after I allied him in my area) I forgot to save his recipes (whoops). it works now
