Does It Just Take Forever To Load?

I got the game three days ago at the request of a friend, but every time I try to join or start a world, I sit in the load screen for ages.
I play tons of other games in the same category, as well as others that should use more of my PC, but have no issues with any of those.
I've even lowered all my quality settings to the bare minimum, tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but it still takes at least 30 minutes to join my friend's world.
Does the game just take forever to load into worlds?

What you describe sounds like you are running the game from a HDD instead of SSD, assuming I am reading that correctly and the game does load eventually.  This game doesn't work well on HDD.  The drives are just too slow.

It can take a long time the first time you connect to a remote game because you have to download the world. You only

need to do that once though, so the next time you connect it is much faster.
