PC Does an Idle auger use gas

I do ALOT of mining and cave digging and I was wondering if anyone knows if when I have my auger selected on my tool belt if it consumes gas if you just sit and let it idle

I don't believe it does. Usually don't have it selected if I'm not using it though.

I never noticed it. If it does it's very little and nothing to worry about.

The same as thunder, if I'm not using it it not in my hands. The noise from it gets annoying

It's a "firearm" and consumes ammo when you "shoot".
