Never said anything about guns at all though. Just saying I'd bet there are several katanas in AZ. Maybe your character in game is one of those people. No one said you'd have to use it..

My point is that you don't introduce an entire new category of weapons (swords that need to be used differently from knives or machetes) if there's no sufficient lore to justify it.

If you told me to add lassos, well, yeah, it'd make sense since in AZ there's a lot of people using lassos in ranches and rodeos. But katanas? 🧐

Probably true, but the point here is not about effectiveness but about in-theme or out of place.
It's also about how much effort would be necessary to add katana swords vs. the credibility of finding many in the AZ themed towns.
 
I just wish we could get the spiked club back...that used to be my go to, save me from the dog packs, equalizer in the old version
