DLC/MODS console

Has TFP thought about releasing mods on console? I know some of it has to do with Microsoft and sony themselves. You could even sale it as a DLC( I know a lot of people will complain about how pc doesn't have to pay but I'm a realist and now people need to get paid for their work).

Even packaged as DLCs Sony and Microsoft would not allow modding. They are pretty strict when it comes to modifying the game, even going as far as restricting which settings console players can modify. Plus I think it would leave a bad taste in people's mouths.

Well, technically, if TFP were to "authorize" the mod by releasing it themselves, Sony and Microsoft would usually allow that. But TFP isn't going to spend time going through mods and verifying everything is balanced with vanilla and that there isn't any bad code in them. Mods will remain a thing for PC only unless Sony/Microsoft someday agree to at least allow XML mods.

They can't do anything until I get my gothic pants :cautious:

Here is the thing.

Console is limited to the hardware of the Series-S.
Which basically means that there is zero room for overhead since the Series-S doesn't even come close to minimum required hardware spec. (Not that the Series-X or PS5 really meet the required spec either, but they're closer.)

That compounded with Sony/MS requiring that they control the available mods, means that it is not likely you will ever see modding on the console.

Maybe after 4.0 releases, and the game goes through some hefty final optimization it might be possible that there is some overhead to allow minor modding with xpath. However you are never going to see most overhaul mods on the console even then.

Lets see what games on console are modding now? ark survival ascended they are releasing an update for 30 gigs for downloadable mod space, space engineers has mod support, arma reforger just released console mods, fallout 4, Skyrim......Its seems they are relaxing the restrictions a bit more lately...If the older consoles are limited, why do some of these other games have no issues getting mods out to those systems? Hopefully 7 days devs can work something out in the future....I guess because 7 days its a voxel engine makes it more difficult? idk
