Voting for ideas can only get you so far and the data itself is pretty hollow. Concrete data on whether a new mechanic works well and is correctly balanced can only come from play testing. Obviously some of that occurs internally with the QA team and other play-testers. Since this game is in EA, we also have the privilege to help them playtest when the game is in a stable enough state to do so.
Polls would only lead to knee-jerk reactions because there is no possible way ideas can be fully realized and understood by players without actually playing them.
