PC DISAPPOINTMENT

Okay, I really need to know why bandits weren't added to version 1, especially given the numerous issues people have identified. Other modders have successfully incorporated bandits, and some of their work is impressive. The community has been consistently asking for this feature, yet it feels like we keep getting overlooked.

I'm genuinely curious about the decision-making process here. These are features that could have been included in the alpha phase but weren't. It seems like the developers, Fun Pimps, prioritize making the game stable even while new content is still being added. So, does this mean the game isn't even finished yet?

I really don’t want a corporate answer, but I’ll probably still receive one. I do small XML patches, and I'm nowhere near as experienced as the team at Fun Pimps. What is the day-to-day process like? How are decisions made? I've been a 7 Days to Die fan since 2016 and have followed its development all the way. Why are these simple features being added now and not during the alpha phase, so we could test them for you and reduce your workload at the end? I'm just confused.

since bandits and story mode are coming would it be possible to add more achievement to achieve on steam????

AI isn't ready yet. It isn't a "simple feature". All modders have been doing is unmasking the code that has existed in the game since Alpha 14. Code that is incomplete and has a very basic AI.

And honestly, if you were so interested in knowing why bandits weren't added yet, you could have done some looking around and found the reason. It isn't like it is a big secret that is being hidden from the public. Instead, you chose to write an offensive post to basically troll the developers.

I wonder. Would it be possible for the armchair developers such as yourself to put a little bit more time into researching your subject before striking up posts like these?  You wouldn't be so confused if you paid attention.

Bruh :/. You have probably purchased the game for peanuts back in the day... now expect a corpo rep to explain himself like a little schoolboy. Bandits are on the roadmap with the accurate release date.

I know it's not popular but I sincerely hope bandits never come. Just getting that out of the way.

To the question, they had to set priorities. Implementing a full bandit system isn't as easy as just slapping the zombie AI on top of a new human model and slightly tweaking it. The AI needs to be completely different with them taking cover, using guns/explosives, , and POI interactions. They could either do all of that or clean up the game for an official launch.

The simple answer is that your priorities and TFP’s priorities aren’t the same. Programming resources aren’t infinite and there other things they felt were more important. Moreover, what is an acceptable level of fit and finish in a mod is pretty much never acceptable from a studio.

Before you jump to conclusions and start accusing me of "trolling," I want to clarify that this was a legitimate question I had. Not many people keep up with every update and detail, and I was genuinely curious about the information. They introduced bandits in the script, and when spawned, it crashed the game, leading to their removal........

I wanted to bring up that bandits were mentioned back in 2015. I'm not trying to be a troll, as I was called by the mod. This is a legitimate concern. I noticed that their introduction caused game crashes when spawned, leading to their removal. This seems like an issue that could have been addressed and fixed by now. I’m not claiming I could do better—I can barely make grass move in Unity—but I wanted to highlight something that should have been implemented already. I love the game I really do shoot i even have 100 percent completed and 1200 hr in the game probably the lowest here lol

I don't think your trolling, but the details of how TFP works and prioritizes their work is somewhat opaque. If I'm not mistaken, and if I read what I think I read, while bandits have received work, circumstances have been such that it hasn't ever been the top priority, seemingly eclipsed by things like getting the game back to consoles using the same code base as the PC version. I suggest it is caught up in a combination of priorities and available resources waiting for time for more work. While it is disappointing to wait for an anticipated feature, you have to trust they're making the best scheduling decisions based on all of the relevant factors.

There have been a few horses to get lined up first before the cart (bandits) could be added to the current game. The old bandits will never be used nor their pathing and AI code. All of the new bandit models have been created. Part of that process was creating the new outfits which we now have. Another big need was acceptable 3rd person view animations which are now done. The new AI and pathing are partially done. Many POIs have been given hooks to accept bandits as their inhabitants.

so lots of prep work has been done but getting it all finished by 1.0 would have been impossible so it was set aside. But…some of the developments for 1.0 are definitely part of the process of bringing bandits into the game. Another big part of bandits will be the biome progression plan as bandits are going to be much more difficult enemies than zombies. So it is literally happening right now.

My only concern about bandits is gameplay Wise. What if the movement is more advanced then us. Like blocking attacking and dodging us

Eh give them time. We got mods and other games to play. I'm a bit of a hater towards the pimps and even I'm fine with no bandits yet. Sure it sucks and I did complain about the delay but it is what it is. If and when the bandits are added I want them to be working as good as possible and hopefully with more balancing added in towards food and water.

Also hope we can hire some from the traders or something if not we always got mods.

Eh? You could likely search the term bandit here and find your info easy enough. Or read the Dev Diary. Or look at the public roadmap. This topic has been beaten to death, came back as a zombie and beaten to death again.

Not possible. They were a part of the original Kickstarter goals so they kinda have to be added. I mean, obviously TFP is working towards getting them in so they are coming regardless. But there will be options to remove them from the game I'm sure, whether through game options provided by TFP or through a mod.

You made the wrong conclusion from an isolated incident. The first version of the bandits which some modders had turned on in their mods was working without crashes. But they were just zombies with a voice line. Good for a laugh, but they did not bring anything new to the game.

In short: the fault was not crashes, and the fix therefore not a simple bug fix.
