Disabling Trader Protection

So, I've played overhauls that disable trader protection and would like to try that in (mostly) vanilla.

I tried two different modlets that disabled that trader protection (which worked) but both of them screwed up the trader quests so the trader only had buried supply quests.

I read that @sphereii's S-Core mod had some settings built into it's BLOCKS.XML file so I tried installing that and edited BLOCKS.XML so Disable Trader Protection  was true, but this didn't seem to do anything. I checked traders that I had not yet visited and there was no change...still invulnerable. Do I need to build a brand new world, or at least start a new game for this to take effect, or am I doing something else wrong here?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

ETA: I started working on this in V1.1 but i'd be happy with a solution that works going forward.

I don't think you're doing anything wrong. Setting DisableTraderProtection and AllowBuildingInTraderArea to true should disable protection (except for a small area around the trader) and allow you to build in the compound. This worked for me on existing saves with visited traders although I haven't used it yet in A22/1.x. The only problem I had was that even with traders always open I would often get teleported out of the compound when logging in to the game, even in the middle of the day.

Thanks, I'll give it another go. Perhaps I do need to start a fresh game or new world with those changes set.

For some reason (probably user error) it was not saving the changes I made to BLOCKS.XML. I finally got it to save and was able to test it.

It works in an existing game save and on an existing trader. 2 thumbs up!

I was curious so I also added it to an existing game and it worked, so I remembered correctly. S-Core is a lot more than just trader protection and some of the other features would probably require a new save, but if just using the trader protection I think adding to an existing game is ok.
