PC Direwolves on day 14. Is that normal

I've never had 6 but I have had 2 in the day 14 horde before, more than once.

I also saw one roaming around at night on night 2, in the pine forest.  That only happened once.

So on my day 14 horde I had 38 gamestage and I live in the forest.  And I had to fight 6 direwolves.

Is that normal
Ya got me beat!  I had a 2nd Horde night that had a total of 5, but they were not all there at the same time.

I had a few Horde nights where a single Direwolf would arrive right off the bat, first two times that happened, I became 'lunch'.  Then I started building ladder towers, and at first they would always show up early.

Most I ever had on day 14 was 5, and even then, three of them were on screen by the end.  I ended up killing the last one about an hour after dawn, and had run myself out of arrows.  Managed to run from archer stand back to base, and grabbed all my remaining arrows, wish I had figured out the Iron/Steel arrow crafting before then.

The first time I saw one was very early, I believe day 2. random encounters are weird. He was just sitting on the side of the road under a tree. So I shot him in the face with a bow and then he stood up and I sh!t my pants lol I had no idea he was so big. I thought it was the new dog model far away.

I've had Dire Wolves on day 7, but it has admittedly been a few months since I've played, so I'm not sure if anything has changed. IMO though, unless you're out in the open Dire Wolves are not a serious threat. If you can attack them from range or with melee from a protected position, they're harmless. I would really like to see them become more of a threat, being able to jump long or high distances.

there are some wilderness pois that have dire wolves.  there was a small group of hills that spawns near a road.  i was collecting plant fibers and thought, oh i need some red flowers, let me go collect that plant(that i could barely see through the branches).  Nope it was a dire wolf's red eyes.  that playthrough did not last long.

How about the perk that reduces the time it takes for critical injuries to heal, is that any good at all? Never really explored that yet.
It helps, but I wouldn't say it's very useful. I liked the pumped-up medicine skill more. A cast or a splint and you're instantly healthy.

I started a permadeath game on Survivalist, blood moon every 3 nights and 64 Zombies blood moon count. Day 9 blood moon I had like 3-4 dire wolves. Day 12 my base got demolished and I died. There were vomiting cops and ferals all over the place. I had not played in some time and that  kind of scaling took me by surprise, seemed way harder than normal.  But I just read about some recent change with how the "Blood moon count" setting was reworked and now can act as a gamestage multiplier. So that might be something to check if the blood moon scaling seems off. I and going to start over and set it lower and see if it's a bit less spicy.

This topic caught my eye, because my recent game has a dire wolf in the winter biome.

Default map - adventure. It just pops my limbs off.
