PC Did todays patch reset the game? (A17)

Hello, quick question.........I had about 4 hours or so into the last Alpha 17 build when the game froze on me. I left the game at that point. Tonight when I logged back in, I downloaded the latest experimental patch and tried to get back into my game only to discover I was back at the beginning of the game and lost about 4 hours of game play. Is that intentional because of the updated patch?

Yeah I think you are right, I just checked it out and I found a backpack with some of my stuff....most of it was gone. But the tutorial reset itself and I had all the starting stuff again. I just wanted to find out if they restart the game every time they patch the experimental server and you answered that, thanks.

 
You're supposed to reset these, mostly because it's experimental but also because they majorly changed the leveling system AND added new POIs. You'll either end up with no new POIs or with them added in weird locations on square raised ground.

 
You should always start a new game during experimental patches

Especially when there are changes to the world data, and to the progression file.

Old saves will not be compatible with b231.
