PC Did game hosting change?

Hey guys, I've been away from the game for a bit over a year. I'm currently playing on 17.3 and loving all the prefabs and POI, but the game feels kinda sluggish. It feels like there's lag between my inputs and the game's response, the same way it would feel when I played a game my friend hosted on the other side of the continent, except I'm playing solo. I've damaged a few boxes by continuing to swing my axe after breaking the outer shipping container, despite letting go of the mouse.

Are games hosted on a server now, rather than locally? Could something else be causing this lag? Before I took a break, things ran pretty smooth for me on single player or when I was the one hosting my friends (though they would lag instead).

Oh that... ya... another one of the devs' "genius ideas". Adding lag to the control response was likely something they did on purpose. Similar to that time they added delayed movement stopping where it felt like you were on ice all the time.

And no, you host the game on your own computer, not elsewhere.

Open the game launcher, and choose "use native input" from the settings there. That should resolve the input lag issue.

Thanks! That change feels like it's helping already. I couldn't find anything recent with google searches, and the forum wouldn't allow me to search "lag" because it was too common a word. Not knowing what was actually causing it made for tricky research.

That sounds unpleasant, nobody loves ice physics. Thanks for the quick response.
