Don't know if there is anyone who hasn't seen this yet but thought I would throw it out there anyway...

Yeah, that mod is pretty dope, but it would be nice to have an official fire feature in the game. We can't let mods be the solution to everything the game should have by default.

Yeah, I just added it as a "what could be" thing...I think it would be a framerate killer but it sure looks purty....

I like it but did see some errors in the follow on videos. In one there was an apartment on fire. The bricks and cement were burning.

Also in the first video it looked as if there was some sort of structural integrity issue with the burning house.

Looked great though. Thanks for sharing.

What if only certain things could catch on fire? Concrete, for example, could be one of the things that can't be burned down. Steel, scrap metal... etc. That is, never make your base out of wood.
Some compounds of Fluorine will burn everything, sand, dirt, concrete! I'm not sure what its used for, probably ready for the apocalypse. :)

Edit: Fluorine Acid was probably the inspiration for the acid blood in the movie Alien. But I think some compounds of it actually burns most things like a fire.

That was supposed to be a feature. I wonder if they're still planning on adding it or if it's too much for the framerate to endure.
There was a mod that added it, I believe HAL made it, so it definitely is possible.

IF there was an in game fire mechanic...those "smoldering" zombies being able to set things on fire would be interesting...especially early on hiding in houses , cabins or making a wood base...they would be a priority target and you wouldn't want them to get near your place!

I normally keep a wooden above ground base the whole game , I play till day 50-90 during most alphas...a fire threat might make me change that...might...

That's part of the fun. Imagine seeing a building on fire and rushing in to get all the stuff before it gets burned. Also, imagine the quests. Save someone trapped inside a burning building, set a bandit's outpost on fire while they're sleeping... etc.
It would be a lot of fun for natural pyromaniacs such as me.
I agree. I like that idea!

Lol yeah, that would be neat. I can just imagine burning my neighbors and listening to their pain. Also, when bandits will be added, it would be great addition when they would be able to build their own base or just occupy random place, which would change time by time (upgrades, spikes, more defense).

I would like game to get more painfull. Killing my neighbors is my daily bread. I love doing bad things to my neighbors. I hope you get what i mean.

I would love to see that too. But you have to manage that wooden bases do not become uninteresting if it was too easy to be destroyed by being burnt down. I would suggest that wooden blocks on fire turn into those burnt wood blocks which the destroyed houses in the burnt forest biome are made of, with less durability. A wooden block which was attacked by a burnt victim (with a chance of 20% to be set on fire) is covered by flames that can randomly spread over the other blocks next to the attacke one.

Sorry for my English. Greetings from Germany.

Alpha 17 ideas please read

I HOPE YOU READ THIS

Here's what I want to see in game:

If weapons mods are being added they need to show on the gun not just in your inventory

Because of the bike and car being added I want to see either a giant steel reinforced vault like door or a giant steel elevator as alternative main entrances for our bases drawbridges and garage doors are weak and not practical

Building in blocks needs to change to a prefab form for things like walls, ceilings etc. so we can build quicker and please change the properties of cement and steel to make them equal so we don't have to upgrade every single block from cement to steel then we have an aesthetic choice plus as an example you should be able to fill a prefab wall for instance in 1 go with either cement or steel using the nailgun

Gravity and mass/load of blocks is reducing our building creativity you need to add horizontal supports in the game so were not limited to building in a certain style and you need to fix the stability issues when building at vertical heights too you should not have to dig to bedrock to properly support what your building this again takes up so much time away from enjoying the game

Punctuation in the quotes has been fixed. Because it's way easier to read in proper English than a massive run-on sentence. Changes are marked in red.

Would be nice, but may not be feasible.

If you build it right, it's not an issue.

I don't personally agree with this. It kind of goes against the main purpose of the game. Also, block crafting has been re-worked a couple of times already. Pretty sure the way the block upgrades work now is the way they will stay. It is pretty well balanced. You can however, mod the properties of the materials, blocks, recipes as you like.

This isn't Minecraft. You can mod the SI for this if you want though. Building massively spanning towers really doesn't support the survival aspect, or overall aesthetic of the game. It's pretty easy to mod if you want though. I've done this for a few castle builds.

SI does have a lot of issues but building deep foundations for large buildings is standard practice in real life.

Just wanted to wish everyone here A HAPPY NEW YEAR!

It's been a good thx for all the laughs, have a good one and be careful out there!!!

Yes, thank you and wish everyone a happy new year too! We are already screwing up the place here in Berlin. Unfortunately we can't blow up the Bundestag to send Merkel to hell, hahaha.

If it is not totally against the "basic game idea" I would like to see slot machines in 7D2D just like there are some in Borderlands 2.

One reel determines the type of item to win and the other reel determines it's colour/quality.

Slot machines could be fed with casino tokens.

For example you have a gun symbol and a green symbol what could lead to a hunting rifle with a quality level between 300 and 399 (set randomly). Or you have a tool symbol and get a nailgun with blue quality or something like that.

If a first aid cross appers you get a random healing item like antibiotics or a bullet symbol gives you a random type of ammunition like a set of 5 sniper bullets.

Those slot machines could be found at trader outposts or in bars.

It might be a cool thing for the thrill if there are no interesting offers made by the trader or you just like to gamble a bit. It could be a nice thing if a low level character got a steel pick axe as a reward for playing risky.
