Lol...I talked to Joel about it. Here’s what he said to me:

So it was a fun discussion but it’s not a dev focus right now and there are too many factors that are unknown that are just blind guesses.

But don’t worry. Tilleen keeps responding to posts as he drinks his ketchup so we’re getting a recap anyway....lmao
And no one responds :-(

What the hell is Ketchup, I think you mean Tomato Sauce!!!.

Ketch up = I understand as reading further the thread (to catch up)

Maybe i am wrong as German ^^

How can you see this not as a issue

Denys 80% of all Bases i ever invented

Screws everybody who has not the time to dig for some real days and make a Hole he can place his base in (like the basepics above show)
I don't see it as an issue, because I don't think many of them will do it. If zombie has no reason to dig down, why would it. If you are up in your tower, then why would the zombie dig down. Not every zombie will do it. Others may follow. I have had zombie get stuck and dig under the base any way because that have spawned on the other side of a cliff. Also it will make think of other ways of building bases.

I initially go up.

Because of this nearly nobody build near a cliff. And this diggers would make every place to a cliff.

The point is that there are a huge group of players who like to build really big. (With zombies in the world)

Look at this picture.

Dark Blue = Crates

Red = SI Pillars

to add a Defense against Diggers would mean instead 4x4 SI Pillars (16) you would need 6x6 Pillars (36).

I hope all that read this understand how much difference this makes. You suddenly would need more than the double amount of work and materials.

And if this would not be enough. Now imagine you will need to Defend 4-10 Storys. Means you spend the whole Horde night by running the Defence Rings of all storys. I cant see there any fun

You just gave me an Idea for another live Action-base, constructed as a Tower with stairs at the inside walls. As soon they get in, they run the stairs up, while i try to deny them access to me and the upper storys. Maybe a few jaildoors and turrets.... OMG A PILLAR WITH TURRETS IN THE MIDDLE GOING UP! Youre a genius. Thank you for the input you gave me

Well to be fair some of those bases SHOULDNT be able to be built. i mean you had a FLOATING one lol

But thats the point, if Realistic bases dont work anymore you will see this "Cheese the system" bases much more often

And The floating one was realistic, "Huge magnets" all i´m saying ^^

Depending on how they end up making them in the game. Sure some ideas have been brought up but you know as well as I do that getting the idea to work the way they want it to don't always work out and they have to change it. This is probably why they pushed back adding them long time ago when they brought it up because they knew how long it take to work on it. So if they do just a zombie that diggs like the spider zombie that climbs not all of them will dig so how long will it actually take for them to get down to your base? I would say a pretty long time depending how deep you are. I say give it a chance they are pretty good at keeping things balanced out. Sometimes it might not seem that way at the release of some stuff but by the next update or so they do pretty good job. I'm just still amazed how some see like this wasn't going to happen at some point. It has been brought up by TFP long time ago and if you wasn't around then sorry. But you have a zombie that climbs why wouldn't you have one that digs?

All i ask for is "This Time" dont add them without a option to turn them off. Or many "non modders" will feel offended, and i think for a good reason.

If they would be like i imagine them there is no way to have them activated on a server that want to have architect players.

All i can see are ships from eve online.
Well, there are more complete charts. ;)

I'm not even folloing every detail here.

If Shai-Hulud were added it would change gameplay and base-building yet again.

I just try new things. I've had underground and above ground bases in many variations, floating ones, underwater, floating underwater so it was submerged but still not touching the bottom...

I'm curious what works. Naturally some fail horribly. LOL

I have ideas for how I would do SI (assuming I could be bothered to code it and it could be made efficient). This has changed slightly from what I have previously said.

For holes under ground. They would not affect things above them as long as the thing above them was high enough. I would envision it being some sort of sloping shape, and the steepness of that slop would depend on the type of material. Stone would be say 45 degrees, dirt may be 60 degres. eg:

Dirt:

Capital Ds are Structural, lowercase are not.

How is it more efficient if for every block you have to check a 3D cone with hundreds of blocks instead of a single column to bedrock?

That is so not realistic unless we're in a sci-fi game and you've got some crazy ass power generator to create a magnetic field capable of supporting such a heavy structure.

B... You crazy! X-D

I think the easyest way about the SI is

Players: Need to make Pillars until Bedrock

Pois: WHen RWG generate the map the lowest layer of blocks of a Poi are repeated until they touch bedrock. This way we only need a layer that expand to a SI safe Set of pillars in every Poi. Should be around one week of work to do that with all Vanilla Pois

Suggestion:. Let's turn our attention to what TFP likes most. SPECULATION!

Considering what we have seen confirmed for A17, and what seems to be important to going Gold, what do we think is gonna go down in A17?

And does anyone think it's possible this is a first pass at full feature installment in prep for beta?

Ziplines become obsolete with the "Airships, Adrenalin and Airborne Assault DLC, @9.95
To be released... SOON. :)

Someone new to the forums may believe your outlandish claims ;)
P.S one order for zombie bear airship express please.
Well... There is that helicopter thing... So there will be flying machines...
