Good news ...but here is a polish item...Mushrooms wont grow if something tall is next to them..they don't get enough sun to grow.....bit of a mix up since you find them underground..

Lets start the 16.4 list

IHR 2017/18
Or just throw mushrooms in a garbage bag and grow/farm them in the dark that way, I am not sure what kind of mushroom it was, I read up about mushrooms one time a few years back, don't ask why.

Been away for a few days and taken a while to read through all this. So... A17 thread with pretty much no information about A17. I am hopeful with the new staff but an AI programmer seems absent in the list. Mind you, more programmers can slow things down. What is the quote again - something like a task that takes one programmer one month will take two programmers two months. However, I think these task can be compartmentalized to not interfere with others so it is probably not as bad as that. Anyway, I'd love to hear about what they are targeting in this release, and also any dates. Hopefully WATER, AI and <6 MONTHS.
Woah!!!

Hold on there.

Compartmentalizing is what causes most games bugs and glitches because you are all using the same coding and are basically all taught to write code the same way it causes so many crossovers that interfere with each other's codes.

It may take 1 programmer 1 month and he is doing his/her own thing mean while so is everyone else so when they write certain lines into the code that tell it to do similar things then that leads to bugs.

It may take 2 programmers 2 months but in the end there will be no bugs. Because they are talking and communicating what they are doing so No crossover in the code.

I just hope they work on only a few things each Alpha so we do not get what we just got.

Which is 7-8 months of work followed by close to 4 months of fixing and still not all the new bugs or old bugs reappearing are fixed.

But from what I see they are hiring more so I am guessing it will provably lead to even more bugs next release.

What I thought would or should be the next alpha is AI and Stealth. As those are the 2 most broken things right now.

I am guessing just these 2 things will take a year just by themselves.

What else they add in I hope will be major/minor updates to existing alpha 16 every few months so we can remain interested in the game and can test each thing at a time.

I do not know about everyone else but I lost interest in alpha 15 after about 4 months

and then waited another 4 months for 16

and another 4 months of testing etc. till what we have now.

I am already a bit burnt out on 16 and they just started a discussion on 17.

Don't get me wrong I love the game and all.... but each update to alpha 16 which there were a lot.... took me days of changing and re-changing things to my liking.

So I got burnt out pretty fast.

Cool story bro.
We're still totally chained together at the bottom of the pit with whoever that third kitten was.

....I'm happy to be able to say that I just learned that TFP is working on a 16.4 update with some pretty nice fixes...

i would like to see
steel upgrade to iron bars and jail cell door.

a drawbridge that can go to 45 degree angle to be used as a ramp

a portable work station added to the minibike uses up 4 slots, to use for combining parts.

a perk for archery as the firearms do. dead eye

ammo belt
Wow yes. All of these.

we need more paint patterns.
-hazmat -- the standard symbol

-armor -- pointy medieval helmet? chest?

-hand tools -- a scythe or crossed axes (All Hail Clangeddon Silverbeard!)

-clothes -- tshirt pattern or big boy pants

-ghostbuster logo -- signify a dangerous area/kill pit, maybe the head of a screamer will work easier.

-directional arrow -- a nice big fat one in several colors

-clan-type symbols -- like freemason logos, all-seeing Eye too.

-minibike -- cuz we all have separate storage boxes just for minibike parts, right?

-gas can -- some we dont store gas next to the forge

-peace symbol -- to indicate friendly or safe area

-the bird -- to clearly indicate and unfriendly area, an emote animation that flips other players off would be cool too.

-a few more pictures -- wall art

-garden tool -- a shovel or hoe or chainsaw

-stone - the shape of some pebbles in a clump or the auger shape.

The ability to use different colors on the 1x1,3x1,5x2 signs.
YES! Please Devs.

I too am waiting to see how Madmole plans to handle the dev diary this time around. If I am correct in my guesses there will probably be pages and pages of joking, discussing, and noise from the community and then Madmole will post something and the thread will snap back to topic for awhile. If so then what I will do is post links to those pages of the diary in the OP so that people can jump right to the on-topic portions with greater ease. I will also be more strict on what stays in the thread in those sections where Madmole is interacting and showing off A17 stuff so that there are no distractions.
So far there is nothing to link to....
Cheers, big ears. I note, on saying that, that you have cropped your ears out of your profile picture. Trying so hard to distract us with some maths mumbo jumbo. So, must be true, right?

Would love a perk where you could fire 2 arrows at the same time where it would do dual damage on a single target or normal damage on two targets at once.
Well, at least it's historically accurate.

Next minute, automatic arrow loader clip with 100 arrows like a chaingun belt could possibly do that with a crossbow in all seriousness though, would probably be jury rigged and just have smaller clip size when the crossbow fires the bolt in the center would pull across a slider disallowing the new arrow entry until it's pulled back could work.

What I would love to see added is spears! How can you have a survival where a person doesn't go and get a very long stick, or even a pool cue and sharpen it. We make a axe, use it to sharpen the spear, it doesn't have to have a great point, just enough to stab with. You can take a kitchen knife and stab someone if you use enough force.

Rare, a toolbox in a garage that has a wrench, hammer and nails. Or two out of three.

Arrows, when we go to gut the deer, wolf, boar or any animal we can collect back some of the arrows. If you had to use five arrows to kill whatever we should be able to retrieve two or three of them.

I can agree with that, especially the steel for the iron bars and perk for archery. Portable work station would be nice also, found six wrenches in the apartment building and no workbench in the town and the one at the trader was broken. Had to leave four behind and take the best two.

Would help with more than wrenches, of course.

From what I can see, a good development would be more use of variables instead of fixed integers. Programmers write the code and integers are imported from a master config file. In the future this would allow players to adjust many of the things that are discussed here.

EG: Blood moon frequency (including 0), Screamer frequency (my pet peeve), backpack size, Zombie population, sleeper population, Gated levels (including 0), Horde frequency, etc....

Vanilla settings are what TFPs vision for the game is, server listings list any changes.

But otherwise an excellent game, having a blast.

my 2 cents on priorities for A17 -

AI, Water, lots more POIs, random internal spawning POI loot / falling blocks, More zombie types/skins

A18+ Bandits, parasail, boats, large vehicle/bike trailer, more POIs and Zombie types.

I know in the past there was talk about having a steam workshop for this game so mods could be transferred easily. Is this something that is on TFP's radar for the future? Haven't heard anything in awhile.

The cho ku no is not exactly a new invention. =)

I create a recipe for the Van Helsing crossbow that held 100 shots and fired as fast as a gun. with 100 exploding bolts it obliterated everything.
